    Quad Core > Dual Core
But a Core i5 Quad won't fit your budget.
You have to buy Core i3 2100 within 12k.

Yup, core i5 will really go a long way with future proofing but with the budget restraint I would definitely go with core i3 instead of core 2 quad. Specially since if you want, you can upgrade to i5 (2nd gen) in the future without changing mobos. Its always good to have more options.
    So with this budget, i3.

c2Q is already outdated and i3 2100 is much more superior than a q9550...so c2q is pointless at this moment....

Nope, don't buy quad core.Go for the i3 2100.This is the best processor with that budget.Don't umderestimate it by seeing that it is a duel core.It has two cores but run four threads and it will run everything flawlessly

yes i3 2100 is 2nd gen cpu, from 2nd get platform only H/P67 and Z68 would support Ivy bridge cpu, if u want the system to be more future proof, try to replace ur mobo with either P/H67 or Z68 mobo with some extra cash,

surely they will support too. but its better to get something better if you wanna switch for ivy bridge in the near future as gigabyte/msi use poor quality VRM's in their entry level mobo's.....
