Intel Core i3 2100 or AMD Phenom II X4 955?
One of my friends needs a budget gaming rig. For processor he has 11-12K. In this range the Intel Core i3 2100 and AMD Phenom II X4 955 are possible candidates.
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition:
3.2GHz clock speed
Intel Core i3 2100:
3.1GHz clock speed
According to specs, the AMD has more weight. However what you guys think?
To hell with Quad-core and more Cache, AMD 955 isn't worth it. No offense to those who uses it
Tell him to buy i3 instead and processor can run 4 threads with two cores. Its pretty good in terms of performance.

i3 2100 sometime even beats i7 920 -_- I'm sick and tired of these SB CPUs
If I were you, 955 would be my choice, despite i3's got better performance.
I3 2100 is Dual core With HT.Virtually has 4 cores.
See this Benchmark here.And Decide.
AMD is Not that bad.
also has a 955.Oneker kase sunsi j intel er theke AMD er resell value ta kom.
Amar Opinion holo parle i3 2100 neyaye den.Tahole next time upgrade er somoy o subidha hobe
phenom II x4 955 got more benchmark than i3 2100 according to cpubenchmark.net,and its future proof too,but i3 2100 beats phenom II x4 in each and every game.Your friend is a gamer,so suggest him i3 2100

for gaming i3 2100 beats phenom in long margin....

If the the PC is supposed to be for gaming then go for the i3 i2300, but if its for everyday purposes then go with the phenom.
well, though myself going for sandy bridge update, i would like to say if u r not into benching and do have a aftermarket cpu cooler, go for phenom, cuz oc will make a huge difference. And for higher oc for amd cpus, u don't need a very high end mb for it, like a good branded 880 gm board can easily oc the phenom2 to 3.8 ghz with stock cooler, dipanzan vaia can tell u more as i've never tried oc(actually oc korte voi petam)

lets be staright forward.....
@ STOCK SPEED intel i3 2100 wins against Phnm ii X4
but i3 2100 cant OC like Phnm and top of that Phnm is unlocked so u can OC it to 3.8-4Ghz where it turns into a new thing and can beat the i3
yeah oc toh kora jabe but just think at stock i3's tpd 65w and 955's tpd 125w, so at stock if u calculate performance per wattage the core i3 is wayyyyyyyyyy power efficient, but phenom er kotha kichu bollam na....:S r oc korley tdp je koi jabe sheta u cam imagine, so maybe apni kom price e 955 kinte parben but month sesh e jei haar extra bill ashbe, koik month ei(if u sum up that extra bill together) it would surplus the price of an core i5 and even performance wise o core i5 toh dur er kotha i3 thekeo kom paben for that extra power/bill.........

if u are using an AMD gfx card.. then go for AMD... Trust me... i am using it
there's a lot of existing threads here regarding 2100 vs 955BE. take a look on the following thread where thing was solved.....

in gaming it will never cross 100W......125w its all 4 cores @100% and only prime95, linpack and other stress softwares pushes a CPU to its limits
