Default Get an i7 4770k or Upgrade to sixth Gen

Guys I had initially saved up some cash to get a gtx 1070 but after seeing all these ridiculous prices I think I'm gonna wait .

So I have decided to spent my cash elsewhere.

So I have two option one is to upgrade to a i7 4770k by exchanging my i5+8k (will get a better mobo when I get more cash)

Or sell my current set up and get a sixth gen i5 build.

Which would be a better decision?

A 4th gen i7 should last me for a couple of years right specially if i overclock? I will be doing video editing on sony vegas pro as well as encoding large vid files because raw screen captures are huge e.e...

I'll get much better performance from a 4th gen i7 than a 6th gen i5 right? But what about gaming will this hold it's own for upcoming games? (6th gen proc have better IPC than 4th gen hence I ask)

if u click the link u can find some sitenames where u can read gaming benchmarks of different cpus using 980Ti, 970, fury x etc. u will be able to decide easily.

    - - - Updated - - -

though cpu benchmarks will be half of the story... a few games also depend on ram, so 3200mhz ddr 4 ram will give more fps than ddr3 1866 or something mhz.
