I think you could get any router you want and disregard what your ISP says it supports. You should mention your budget in this type of scenario.
However, any cheap Tp-Link Router will work in your case you can't go much wrong. Here is my suggestion:

Thanks for ur tips and recommendation @bitpirate . But W 3039 seems to too expensive for me as my max budget is 2500. I am currently eyeballing on this model right now:

What do u think about this model? Will it serve my purposes well?

    Take care.

Yeah it should be ok. I recently saw an article on best wireless router on Wirecutter and recommended according to them (one with lowest price). Check it out:

Hmm 841HP has dual 9db antenna which is good vs 841n's dual 5db. But still it slightly more than the range of my budget. Actually I live in small 900 sqfit flat, if the wifi range covers the whole flat it will be enough for me. 841hp and 841n has similar range, so i think N will be enough. Do u think 9db antennas will be necessary?

    Thanks for ur suggestion bro.

Use hardwired ethernet connection to play games for best performance. Or 5ghz wifi will do but seems like it crosses your budget.

My 740n barely covers 1000 ft2 (its placed at the corner of the house. always place your wifi at the center of the house) so dont recommend any single antenna ones. and it depends if you have clear line of sight or not. not to mention the interference from nearby wifi and microwaves.

And if you're solely depended on wireless to connect your ps4, you'll need good enough signal. anything above -50db and you'll notice issues.

I will be placing the router at one corner of my house. PS4 will be placed just beside it so I think it wont be a problem. But i want to use internet on my phone from other rooms, so at least one door and wall will be coming in between. So my guess is I need something slightly more powerful than 720N/740N. And there comes 840/841N and these also fit my budget well. As 841N has dual 5db antenna, it might be the optimum choice for me. I may be wrong though.

take the one with the Antenna it will fully support the 900sq ft flat and has two LAN port, you can use one with the PS4 if your ISP provides internet via fiber.

e probably is just making a joke, 720n doesn't cover a 2000 sq feet flat that I can assure you.

Placing the router in the corner is not a good idea but if you buy the 841N or HP they will surely work and while multiple device will be used at the same time, 841N or HP will slow down less.

I want to bypass the hassle to setup the LAN configuration, again I have to inform my ISP as they have to set the MAC id for the PS4, though I know it is the better way. And I dont know whether they will charge me more for this.

I dont have any other option other than placing it near my pc and ps4 and all of them are placed at a corner of my house. That is why I m going for 841N instead of the cheaper offerings (720/740n). For me it is the sweet-spot.

you dont have to inform your isp about anything. just copy your pc's MAC/or whatever you were using before and put in in your router using that MAC address clone option.
And getting wired lan connection from router wont require anything like that. your router creates its own network using NAT/DHCP and shares multiple connections with your isp's network. in other words, setting up wired lan is just like connecting wifi.
    Yeah 841n will do.

At last bought an 841N. I have to say it is serving me as expected. I m getting signal from the furthest room. I should be happy with my purchase.

Thanks to all of you guys for your valuable tips and suggestions.
