Assalamu Alaikum,
Ramadan Mubarak,
The blessed month of Ramadan comes once again. Let this month be the occasion to get our sins forgiven. None of us knows if we'll live to see another Ramadan, or another day for that matter. I've lost some near and dear ones last year, may Allah forgive them and have mercy on them. We seem to think death is distant and we'll live for like at least 60-70 years, but there is no guarantee for that. So rush to forgiveness from the lord of the worlds.
The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. [Sura Bakarah : 185]
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."[Bukhari, Muslim]Aside from fasting and praying we should also try to keep ourselves from sinning like listening to music, watching movies, lying, backbiting etc. Let us purify ourselves in hope of reward and forgiveness. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins."[Bukhari]
