Default Mixing different brand ram sticks

    I'm currently using a TEAM 8gb ddr3 1600mhz

Can I use another brands 8gb ram with it as long as the clock speed is the same or will it cause issues?

Shouldn't be a problem even if you use two RAM with different speed. The one with higher speed will be down-clocked to that of lower one. So you'll be fine.

But I would try to keep same model and brand if possible.

The speed and also the timings. It is not recommended but should cause no severe problem. However, never mix up the voltages.
