Thread: Comment/suggestion on this build

  1. #1

    Default Comment/suggestion on this build

I'm going to buy a new desktop hopefully this coming week which I'll be using for normal daily use and some casual gaming (FIFA mostly but if possible then playing GTA V on mid settings). Total budget for this is 55K (excluding graphics card which I'll buy a month later). I've selected the following specification for this rig:

    Processor: Intel Core i5 6500 3.20GHz
    Motherboard: Asus B150M-K DDR4
    Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB DDR4 2400bus X2
HDD: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Blue
PSU: This part seems confusing to me, I don't know which one should I pick. I probably will go for GTX950 so please suggest a good PSU for it.
Casing: TT Versa H34/Corsair 200R (I've found 200R listed as upcoming product on CS website but I'm not sure that is this available in Bangladesh yet)
    ODD: Asus DVD Writer

One more thing is many people these days recommend SSD for running OS, different applications and gaming rather than running it straight from HDD. Should I save up more and go for SSD?

I don't have any idea on computer shopping and PC market in general nowadays so I'm seeking for your help. Please kindly comment on this build, and if you have any suggestion to improve this then feel free to suggest me here.

I need to buy a good UPS and a monitor as well. I have 20K budget for these two together (this isn't included in the budget I have for the rig I mentioned above). Can you suggest me a good UPS (please suggest a good one that would last for at least for 2 to 3 years) and a monitor?

@furiousTaher Price difference between 2400 and 3200mhz is 800BDT for G.Skill RAM according to Ryans website. I have no idea why B150 motherboards are terrible for gaming, can you explain it a bit?

Get a better GPU.. the 960 or the 380X

And Corsair or Cooler Master 500W.

@VANGUARD: Z170 boards are for overclocking, right? I think Z170 isn't worth buying since I won't buy a K CPU so I am thinking about a cheap B150 board. And why is everyone saying B150 boards aren't worth buying? I thought they are good.

@GiDDY_SOUL: I'll buy the graphics card later, probably will take me a little longer if I go for GTX960 or 380X but since I won't do hardcore 1080p gaming at max. settings so I though a GTX950 would suffice. Is getting a 950 bad idea? Although Corsair PSU have worldwide reputation but I've heard Corsair PSU available in Bangladesh aren't very good and I don't have much idea about CM PSUs. How good are TT or Seasonic PSUs that are in 6K-7K range?

@furiousTaher: Currently 55K for this rig excluding the graphics card but I can stretch 5K more. Can you please elaborate why Asus B150M-K is so bad?

PS: Can any of you please kindly reply on my query regarding the monitor and UPS in the last part of my thread?

Just get a b150 if you want to save money. I am using a b85 mobo with my locked processor and I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

Just get the 950 then, about the PSU.. look for reviews in hardwaresecrets.com when i bought mine i looked at many reviews of different brands there.

They give an in-depth review of PSUs.. they open up the PSU.. to show the design and component used, Overload test, Ripple/noise test. Other PSU reviewers don't do these mostly.

I found Corsair PSUs to consistently Filter Ripple/Noise better and In the Overload test, their PSUs could provide far more power than the rated watt.
TT psus were usually the worst in the Ripple/Noise area, they never failed the test.. always within allowable limits.

I checked them around 1 year back, So now.. things might have changed. If u choose a specific model.. check for a good review online before buying it.

@GiDDY_SOUL: I've just visited the website you recommended. I couldn't find any review for Corsair or TT PSU that fits my budget but found a review for Seasonic S12II 520W Bronze, according them this PSU is pretty good. I think that Seasonic PSU is priced a bit high in Bangladesh but according to online reviews it is better than Corsair VS series. What do you think?

You don't need Seasonic, get a toughpower 600/650W, will last you for 5-6 years or even more.

    .
for b150 chipset motherboard pciE lanes are pcie 2.0 x8.

but correct me if i am wrong: those 8 pciE 2.0 lanes are for additional gpu or sound card.... processor has 16 3.0 lanes to directly connect to gpu. am i r8 or am i wrong?

edit: 8 pciE 3.0 for b150.... pciE gen 2.0 is for crappy h110

@redwan hasan: TT Toughpower 650W is 9K which is out of my budget but it would've been nice if I could get this one. Can you suggest a PSU within 7K?
