    Default R7 370 4gb or gtx 950 2gb

I m going to buy a graphics card very shortly.

I was initially thinking about buying 380/380x but now I'll have to buy some other stuffs too, so that's not an option right now.

So tell me which one should I buy between these two cards.

GTX 950 without any doubt. Though R7 370 has 4GB memory buffer, the gpu itself is not so great utilizing more than 2GB actually. On the other hand, GTX 950 is simply a better gpu than R7 370.

If you want to get a GTX 950, I would suggest you to get the Zotac one. One really cannot argue with that 5 years warranty . It should be available on January 11. Also don't forget to contact @VANGUARD (if you want to buy it).

5 years of warranty!!!. Wow, that's great. Let them launch the product first. I'll surely consider it if they truly provide 5 years warranty.

Anyway, thanks for ur detailed response. I was watching some benchmark of these two cards on YouTube and most of the time the 950 came on top but those guys were using the 2gb version of the 370.

What would have happened if they had used the 4gb version of 370 instead of 2gb? One more thing, I have seen that some of the recent games are capable enough to consume more than 2 gb vram. Do u think that in these titles 370 will perform better than the 950?

rofl... even there is very little difference between 960 2gb vs 4gb... for a card like 370 it doesnt matter if its 300gb or 2gb...

950 beats 370... and slightly beats 270x. no doubt

Depends, you could stretch your budget. Also if you're buying GTX 950, hopefully the factory overclock is as good as it comes

Don't be naive kid, we live in a cruel, dog eat dog world. Rainbows and sunshines, standard 5 years warranty on GPUs and AMD finally beating Nvidia and Intel ( @Trave160 ) only exists in fairy tales.

Zotac cards will only have a standard 2 year warranty just like other brands which UCC sells. You can get an extended warranty for 3 more years, if you can successfully register your GPU with Zotac within two fortnights (28 days) then get the certificate from Zotac. During the extended period if u want to claim the warranty. then it is ur responsibility to bring the GPU directly to Zotac Workshop (which is in Hong Kong, I assume) and then get it back from them when and if they fix it.

Thanks @mithun12ka4 ... And what sorcery is this!?! I am okay with registering my product, I am okay with sending emails directly to Zotac, but shipping Graphics Card to Zotac and then get it back!!! At my own cost and risk? If this is the policy, one would rather buy a new graphics card. @VANGUARD bro, please explain.

Sort of figuered the 5yr warranty sounded too good to be true, still could be wrong though, maybe ucc has some direct deal with zotac of handling it themselves. but this is almost exactly like the XFX and EVGA lifetime warranty. the warranty was standard for 3years but after that you need to send it to them and pay both the shipping costs, and by 3 years the card depreciates in value quite a bit so it's almost as expensive to ship it twice than get a new one. not to mention there is also the possibility that, they might just stop support for it has happened on several XFX and EVGA cards mostly old ones that had lifetime warranty but you can't send it in for repairs now since they stopped support for it.

I've increased my budget a bit and now thinking about getting the 2 gb version of msi gtx 960 TF 5. I've mainly chosen this card due to its low power consumption. Although I was really looking forward to buy the 380x but my old 550w smart psu is holding me back.

My last 2/3 cards were from sapphire and all of them were really reliable and couple of them are still functioning without any problems!!

Anyway how is msi tf 5 cards. Are they as reliable as sapphire ones. How is asus with their dc2 coolers? The 960 dc2 variant from asus is little bit cheaper than the msi one but I don't have any experience in dealing with global. Are they good?

If you have the Tt Smart M550W, you should be able to run a 380X fine. However, you might need a 8-pin PCIe to 6-pin PCIe converter or cut the 8-pin plastic to fit it into 6-pin slot (not recommended).

And, I would strongly suggest you to go with R9 380X since you have increased your budget. Here is a comparison. It's just a better card out of the box.

I think ur PSU should be able to run R9 380X, unless it has lost some of its capacitors. When I had bought Corsair VS450 it was able to run R9 280 Vapor-x Dual Fan, although it was in my system for only a day for some testing purpose.

The max system power consumption of a system with R9 380X is 400W according to benchmarks. On average its around 300W. And those benchmark systems where using overclocked i7s. So we all can hope that your psu will be able to run R9 380X.

i would personally opt for standard warranty with reputed brand like asus, msi or sapphire. The so called 5 year warranty is to attract new unsuspecting gamers.
What @kaziishan mentioned in his post should be enough to avoid such pot holes. good find.

If and only if there is a local service center in dhaka approved by Zotac, then its quite ok. which means the extended warranty is actually usable. But i don't think that's the case here.
