    regarding suggestion.....

if u r planing on buying a i7 2600k, i would suggest u to wait till next April as i7 3770k is coming out with similar price tag with 20-30% performance gain over 2600k, but i can affirm u as an active user of 2600(non K) its an powerhouse specially in regards of rendering and 3d modelling stuffs trust me(even if it(non k) can be oc a little but at stock its an beast so imagine how would it perform while oc)....so thats why as u already owns a 950, wait till April and get that Big daddy of Sandy Bridge with x79 platform which supports quad channel memory....

    currently if u r planing to get an i7 2600K that'll cost around 30k and if consider a non k model that'll cost u 26k....

    best of luck..

Well....i am using a 2600 (non k) in my office as my own terminal.....frankly - it's ok.....but don't know why - i get much better performance with same file and scene in ArchViz CGI works in my i7 950. I already used a 2600k oc'ed in 4.5GHz and that's a monster unleashed. Unfortunately it's not my PC.

Anyways....i can easily wait till april....but the problem is not that. I will purchase a completely different machine with x79 setup - net budget is estimated 2.5lacs. It will completely be the powerhorse for my studio. But now i need a little kick. I tried and tried and tried....but don't know why.....couldn't even get 3.8GHz stable oc on my machine. I am kindoff pissed off!.........so i am kindah thinking to get along with a 2600k with a z68 series beast and unleash on 'em. Frankly if anyone can come over my place and help me out with a rock solid 4.0GHz oc with 76-78 degree temp in full load - i won't even bother purchasing a new upgrade..............but as all my buddies in BG know - i am kindah restless while a professional fact is involved. I spend money if it brings me more.........anyways....thanks very much for ur suggestion...specially the x79 issue. I will keep that in mind. Can ya provide me with a complete specs with estimated price?........thanks!

umm...to be very much technical with u the only difference between core i 7 2600k and non k is one has max multi of 57(K) and another has 42(non k), so at stock clock 2600 and 2600k is more or less same, if u look at this bench both cpu are at stock and the performance gap is quiet big, and yeah if u moderately oc ur 950 then a stock 2600/k would be outperformed by ur cpu...i do not know by with which system that 2600 coupled with u mentioned, but i'm assuming there is definite bottleneck by either by ram or mobo itself on that system mentioned..

u didn't even to hit 3.8ghz with what? ur office's 2600 or ur current 950? if i consider both a non k 2600 would hit 3.9ghz by all core and 4.2ghz on 1 core easily but u need a good P67 or z68 mobo, and if u r talking about ur 950 Bloomfield with X58 sabertooth that should also be not very difficult to hit 3.8ghz but if u cant maybe the ram if the culprit(try to down-clock the ram to achieve higher fsb of ur 950... )

about spec. with current market price i'm no expert on this....there are other ppl who can help u about it...

brother call up rakin he can do it .. he had the same mother board
He walked me through my OCing on my X58 UD7 and took my core i7 930 to 4.1 ghz with heat under 77 ( without fan of FRIO OCK set to high, makes annoying noise ) during summer without AC

If you have no intention of selling it, this isn't the place for this discussion.

Either state your intent to sell or not, in which case I'll move the thread to the general hardware section.
