Default TagMyDoc Lets You Add a QR Code To Any Document For Easy Sharing

There is a definite rise in QR codes usage recently. QR codes are popping up on everything from Newspaper and TV ads to movies and finally they have arrived in your documents.TagMyDoc is web and mobile app, which lets you add a QR code to your document for easy sharing. The thought behind the app is to make sharing your documents easier. If you are in a meeting and need everyone to have a copy of the agenda, have them scan it with their mobile phone as they walk into the meeting. Because let’s face it, they will be playing on their phone the whole time anyway, may as well have them looking at what you are talking about.

    How TagMyDoc works
The premise is simple. Upload a document or presentation to the cloud and they will put a QR code on it. When this QR code is scanned, the document or presentation will be downloaded right then and there.

    Using TagMyDoc
Using the application is pretty simple. When you have a document ready to share, you can go to TagMyDoc.com. You can use the service without an account if you’d like.

If you pan to use TagMyDoc a lot, you can sign up for a reasonably priced account by choosing one of the packages they provide. $2.99 a month is dirt cheap for the amount if time it will save you having to email the presentation you just did to everyone who attended.

If you signed up for an account or are using the guest version, you will need to upload the document you’d like to have tagged. You can upload several different file types. Doc, ppt, pdf, png and others are all acceptable file types.

If you are uploading a bunch of files, you can add them to a folder.

If you want to, you can share the entire folder with people either by using the folder QR code,

or by sharing it the “old fashioned” ways.

    Sharing a document

You have several ways to share. You can share it with a stand-alone QR code, the code embedded into the document or there is a URL you can send to people.

    Statistics

There is a statistics tab for each document letting you see how many times it has been downloaded.

    QR code placement

A cool feature of the paid plans is being able to place the download QR code on a specific page in a designated corner. If you use the free account, it is always in the same spot on the same page.

    TagMyDocs on other Platforms
Right now there is an TagMyDoc iPhone app. There are Blackberry and Android applications in the works. There will also be a Microsoft Office add-ons coming soon.

    Final Thoughts

What I like about the web app is how useful it is for someone like a presenter. Not everyone has a good view of the screen and it seems like they always say they will email out a copy of the slide deck, but it doesn’t always happen.
By letting the crowd scan the presentation, they can scan it and follow along or if you have the QR code on the last page, they can just scan it on their way out if they want to have a copy of the presentation.
