i highly doubt the BTRC capability.yes ISP can see who is using vpn & or not.but, the thing is in general.vpn is not only used to access Facebook.almost 100% of bd banks uses vpn.now the most important question will be can isp still see what i am doing using vpn?well that depends on the vpn service that one using.one of the fault is dns leakage.if the vpn service the client using is not leak proof.then isp will definitely know which website or service they using through vpn.

i am not going to tell or show workaround for 100% secure connection for any purpose because it will be then against the law which i am not willing to break.

but,one thing for sure is the main target for the govt which they stated "monitoring" will never be even close to fulfilling.because even if the govt tracks those who are using vpn for Facebook.they won't be able to tell who is doing what on Facebook.because whenever HTTPS connection is made it is just impossible to decrypt's those activity.

i personally believe the govt is just trying to get some sort of fear to the general people not to use vpn.

again if u r not criminal u shouldn't be worried right now.even if ur isp takes ur ip address & give them to govt.

ISPs (at least broadband ones) should already know the location of the user. The question is, how'd they know what the user is actually doing, because the ISPs can only see that the user is using a VPN, and no other info.

How are the govt. actually knowing what we're doing ? How are we being watched given that all they know is that we use a VPN, but no other inside info. I don't think that the people who shut down the internet in the entire country, in an attempt to block just 4 services, can put surveillance on us, like the NSA/CIA can do. Also the no. of people using VPN are increasing rapidly, I just checked Play Store (my location is set to BD), and there were already 6 VPN in the Top 12, and the first 2 were VPNs too.

Do you seriously think the criminals would go that far just to use FB/Viber/WhatsApp ??? If they had the capability to run own VPN, use Tor, make Bitcoin transactions etc.. then they wouldn't use FB/Viber/WhatsApp to communicate.

Wait what.....It's illegal to use a secure connection ??? And/Or to teach people how to use a completely secure connection ?

Also, what about users with Dynamic IP, their IP will change every time they connect/disconnect, so wouldn't it be hard for the govt. to trace these people, especially a govt. who shuts down the entire internet in an attempt to close just 4 services , and most people are actually using dynamic IPs so what about that ?

yeah a govt hoax fear nothing else.

all they really can do is reduce the b/w greatly which was done once before as mentioned by @Swapnil .

a side note: personally i thought Tarana Halim is an educated & respected personal.but, now it seems she is useless just like the others lame politician.

it may not be illegal to let people know.but,u never know.there is a law that exist & govt can misuse it.the law goes something like the following:

    "আদালতের নির্দেশ অমান্য করা ও সরকারি কাজে বাধা দেওয়ায় তাকে পেনাল কোডের ৩৫৬ ধারায় মোতাবেক ৬ মাসের কারাদণ্ড প্রদান করা হয়"

But did the court make any statement on making FB/Viber/WA "illegal", because AFAIK, the govt. only ordered the BTRC to block the sites/services from being accessed but they didn't tell the people to stop using it, instead they just blocked it. Did they say that using a VPN is illegal ? Correct me if I'm wrong though.

look.there is a law & the govt is ruling this country right now.i am just saying they can use the code 356."সরকারি কাজে বাধা দেওয়া" this phrase will be more than enough to arrest someone.

People could argue that Paris didn't have red alert when the attack happened, so we should be on red-alert-like-situation before the attacks happen.

May I ask which VPN service you are using that lets you configure that much, and how much does it cost? Are you hosting an OpenVPN server somewhere?

yes, and if the government thinks its a red alert situation as terrorist are assassinating both foreigners and police forces in assassins creed style, then they should declare red alert already. like i said this many times before, without declaring red alert/emergency situation to me its not acceptable for the govt to block online services.

whatever method people are using..all can be traced given that they have time to do this ... unless you are using military class hardware's . Second thing if millions people use encrypted services it would be hard to find the culprit and most hackers may take only 5 mins to do their work . Govt is not hacker or a single being on the contrary hacker groups are more powerful as their expertise lies in hacking ..in short they can take down anything given that they want to do it .And talking about bd govt is useless ..they dnt know what they are doing to their own country if the root of the tree is fragile it can not grow big and can collapse easily.Plus i personally think fb services should not be 24/7 in bd . People become social parasites..esp bd people as they find another way to waste their life .
