    Default Display issues with HD 2600 XT

    POSTING THIS ON BEHALF OF MY FRIEND
    ===========================

    I got a HD 2600 XT for my friend frm this forum. He needed it for the PC he was going to make from his leftover parts frm various upgrades. He will use the PC for HD movie watching and for some graphics related custom software.

    1) This HD 2600 XT has a large grate-like heatsink on it.

    2) His OS is WinXP Professional; ver 2002; SP2.

    3) Monitor Phillips 192E LCD.

    4) The card also came with a cooler which the seller said might be required as card gets hot.

    Problem - he used CCC to set the resolution at 1280*800, 75hz - as this gave the output of his custom software the way he wanted. As soon as there was a screen-saver intrusion, he found that the system had gone back to the 1280*768 display setting. In the display properties, the 1280*800 option is not there.

    He has found that on rebooting, or screen-saver or anything that resets/restarts system, the res goes back to 1280*768.

    QUESTION: How to make it stick to 1280*800 and can anyone theorize what is happenning here?

    its because the max supported resolution of a 18.5" WS monitor is 1366X768. that means maximum number of vertical pixels that is supported by the monitor is 768..... you can't just set to 800 through ccc. anyway i wonder is there any noticiable defference between 768 & 800!!!
