    Default Child's Play Charity

Child's Play charity raises nearly $2 million in 2011

Gamers really are a giving bunch

When Child's Play started way back in 2003, who would've thought a charity supported entirely by gamers would take off like it did? With 2011 winding to a close and a new year being upon us, the charity takes a look at its progress so far.

This year's Child's Play Gala and Auction -- an annual black-tie fundraising event -- pulled in a hefty $351,000 from the community. At the auction, a life-sized Half-Life Gravity Gun was auctioned for $21,000; a copy of the world's rarest video game, Nintendo World Championships Grey #60, went for $11,500; a special guest spot in a Penny Arcade comic strip was bought up for $10,000.

In the year 2011, Child's Play managed to raise a jaw-dropping $1.95 million in donations. Since 2003, they've raised $10 million in toys, games, and cash.
