Default Can someone help me with these pc gadgets

I currently have a pentium dual core E5200 cpu. I am looking to upgrade my mainboard to have DDR3 ram. But I can't find any mainboard which has DDR3 ram support and LGA 775 socket(which my cpu needs). So if I upgrade mainboard I have to upgrade cpu as well. That takes me beyond my budget.

Is there any motherbaord which has LGA 775 socket with DDR3 ram support? I want to move to DDR3 ram because currently my pc lags a lo just even opening 10 tabs on the chrome browser and running movies or youtube videos along with them.

    Please let me know.

How much RAM do you have? Your CPU should support 4GB of RAM. Do you have 4GB of RAM?

I current have a 2GB of DDR2. Yes the cpu can support it. But I am thinking of moving to DDR3 because of all the current lag I am facing just from web browsing and simple stuff. Chrome, skype all has become ram hungry.

I was able to play GTA 5 (albeit in 25fps ) with 3GB Ram on a DG31PR board. The cpu was a C2D though. Try increasing your Ram first. Borrow another 2GB DDR2 from a friend or someone else and test if it solves your problem. Then, consider upgrading motherboard.

Will your E5200 support 1333 bus? DDR3 ram will be downclocked to 800 mhz with this CPU as per my knowledge. So, changing ram will not be much of help. Stop investing on this age old system.
And if you are really that serious, add another 2gb DDR2 stick and use a suited GPU.

Your best bet is to look for a second hand g31/41 mobo. Most of those have ddr3 support.

g41 mobo from Intel also doesn't support DDR3 rams...

    i bought a Gigabyte G41M-Combo when my Intel G35EC died.....this mobo has 2 DDR2 slots, and 2 DDR3 slots....
well you cannot use different Modules at the same time... but you can buy 4+4 gb ddr3 rams which, in future you can use, when you upgrade to Core i series...
the DDR3 rams would downclock to 800MHz, but i had it OCed to 1066MHz and lowerd the Ram Timings which improved the performance...

make sure you test the rams in the shop on that Combo Mobo, cuz, G41 doesn't support a lot many DDR3 modules!

E5200 coupled with 4gb DDR2 and a gpu (upto 6670 perhaps) would suffice for browsing and mid level computing works.

Just sell your system. With the money + the money you've stashed for a ddr3 motherboard, buy a 2nd/3rd/4th gen pentium dual core build. You'll can get new at under 10k (cpu+motherboard+ram) or try at 2nd hand at a little less. No point in upgrading old system. My friend did the same as you. Upgraded a C2Q build to DDR3 few months back. The 2nd hand motherboard he bought broke. So not a good value to upgrade old system. In the end you'll suffer nonetheless
My probable next build: Qisan MagicForce 68 (Outemu switch) / Teamwolf Zhuque+ 87 TKL (Outemu) / Monoprice Select series full size (Outemu/Gateron) / Drevo Gramr 84 TKL (Outemu) • Logitech G102 Prodigy • Deepcool Dukase V3 / Thermaltake Versa U21 • Superlux HD 681 • Creative Sound Blaster E1 • LG 22MP68VQ • SteelSeries QcK • Generic executive chair • others TBA

djrock please don't bother me. You are in my ignore list so I don't have to see literal poop.
