Reign of Multiplayer Games, Not DotA
What started in the beginning, as a creeping competition and making items and owning your friends in DOTA, we had a couple of tournaments in Bangladesh at first it was only counter-strike , Unreal tournament and Call of Duty .
ShadowPlay the Introduction
Gradually, DotA became popular in our country, as the game became famous a lot of people started to play DotA, there was competition in the air. At first there were 3v3 tourneys with teams around 9 to 11 teams. As the days passed, DotA became even more popular,
I, Sn4k3y(Faisal Jashim Uddin), a player of team Shadowplay was the first to start playing DotA. Then my current teammates started playing DotA too. The current line up for team ShadowPlay follows in this manner:
* Sn4k3y- Faisal Jashim Uddin
* [Werewolf]- Mohd. Shajjadur Rahman
* Masterpiece- Ashiqur Rahman Sami
*Closer- Mohd. Mohiuddin Shojol
*m3nthol- Saadman Sakib Rahman
*LasT.WorD- Farhan Tawsif Rahman (Substitute)
This is the current roster of our team and that is how DotA started as a way of life for us Bangladeshi Gamers. The first year ended with lots of pub game activities. But this led to the formation of 10 DotA teams in the second year who were ready to play 5 on 5 DotA Tourneys. We saw the rise of Cyber Assassins (CA) which totally dominated this phase of DotA Championship in Bangladesh. A few months passed, Legion, a really good DotA player came from USA. He was the soul reason of improvement of some of the newbies in DotA. He trained some including me a.k.a Sn4ky(Faisal jashim Uddin), soon making us good at last hitting and basic game play.
Team SP formation cum first encounter
Two months passed when Legion had to leave Bangladesh for various reasons and soon after his departure, there was a tournament organized by Sin_Eater( Ziaur Rahman Galib). Special note on Sin_Eater- he was the only support for us ShadowPlay team in the Gaming aspects in Bangladesh and in other words, our sponsor. Werewolf, currently our team captain wanted to play a tournament and called me up to ask me if I could play, I answered positively and soon a team was formed. It was me Sn4k3y , Werewolf , Masterpiece , Prince of kool and kung fu. Prince of kool is now the captain of the second best DotA clan in Bangladesh titled DTA. Kung fu left gaming for pursuing his studies in the UK.
We went without any practice to the tournament. We were like some random gamers who went to the venue with no team meeting held. We all were really excited and nervous at the same time. This being our first tourney of our life in the form of SHADOWPLAY (actually we were called World er Best), and the first tourney format was sentinel vs. scourge (-LM). We were pitted against the eventual tournament winners in the very first match. We won the scourge side, but lost when we were the sentinels. We reached the finals of the tourney and again we faced the opponents of the first game. We were runners-up in our very first tournament. This was the start we needed and we got it.
The head start was given to us. The ignition was on and we needed was a GO. We soon organized a tournament and the organizers were Kung fu, Masterpiece and Wereworlf. This time around, we met the winners of the previous tourney in the semifinals and after a good fight, we won against them. Finals we had a great win and not to mention that we won our very first tournament. Thanks to the dedication we had for this game named DotA. The roster included DK(Dawood Khan) instead of Prince of kool. It was this win, which made us feel on cloud nine. We felt the spirit and good feeling ooze through us. We realized that we could really achieve something big in DotA. We won the next tournament organized by Sin_Eater.
Growing in Vigour, Problems arose.
We became good in what we were doing and suddenly problems arouse. DK wasn’t listening to us in-game as most of the calls are called out by me. And Kung fu had to leave country for his higher studies in UK. Vacancy filled our team and we needed 2 members.
Finally the name: SHADOWPLAY
Our team named itself ShadowPlay and we added the required members for our team. It was Master’[E](Sultan Mahmood) and Elprit_eno(Rubaiyat Wahab) . We had a tournament ahead and all the teams were practicing day in and day out for 2 Major DotA tournaments up ahead. One organized by DGL, a small community interested in taking gaming ahead in Bangladesh and the other by Sin_Eater and Pyro.Dynamics under the banner of Banglagamer.com with huge amount of prize money for the giving. Sin_Eater had been very active in the DotA upliftment in Bangladesh and by this time Banglagamer.com was established.
We were unstoppable and this was soon known to everyone in Bangladesh Gaming community. And then came the twist in ShadowPlay’s streak of victories. They lost. We lost! The reason was map version 6.48b and our opponents stole all the wards, which was a good strategy against us, since we were known to ward a lot. We learnt a valuable lesson. DON’T LOSE HOPE!!!
We were happy even in the loss. ShadowPlay knocked out of the finals. The tourney was won by Clan DTA, led by former ShadowPlay member, Prince of kool. Happiness even in defeat, we had even more reason to practice harder now.
Sin_Eater for the win!
Biggest DotA tourney was organized by Sin_Eater and thanks to him, our efforts really paid fruit. We won this tournament without any problems .This was the biggest in DotA Tournament in history of Bangladesh Gaming. We won and there was a great ceremony by Banglagamer.com and Pyro.Dynamics, which really made us, ShadowPlay famous.
This led to the introduction of ShadowPlay manager- Sin_Eater. He is the one and only well-wisher for our team and also our sponsor as there is no sponsor in our country, yet .
The ShadowPlay Roster till now.

After a month Banglagamer.com hosted a league just like PDL2 games it was time for the play-offs.We managed to win all the teams, and this time around we had 11 professional Dota clans from Bangladesh. The schedule was 11 weeks for the league and BGDL was a great success. We were on top of the chart and won the league.
In the meantime, North-South University held a competition in CS, DotA, NFS and Fifa and we were quite surprised as well as shocked to know that a lot of clans backed out of DotA competition knowing that ShadowPlay was participating. In the finals, we had no competition and we beat the opponent 70 to 7. ShadowPlay team was on a roll and we were proud of what we are.
ImbaGamer Tournament: India
We were hungry for more. We had no competition. We wanted to compete. We wanted to learn more. We wanted to play as ShadowPlay. It was time to go International and though we had no sponsors, our manager managed to get a good internet connection for us to take part on International Dota Tournaments. We registered for ImbaGamer tourney, which was referred to us by Gdn | scribbler – Bharath Krishnan from India. We took part in the tournament and we were quite excited but due to lag and spikes we lagged out of the tournament. We still relished the feeling of playing with Indian Clans. It was pathetic, the internet connection and we lost without giving any fight at all. Sad for the ShadowPlay we all lost hope in the international level because of no good internet connection here in Bangladesh. We knew that we had the caliber but not the resources. We then received an unforeseen support from the organizers of ImbaGamer Tourney. They decided to invite Bangladesh’s number one clan to their grand finals and thus we were all overjoyed. Later on in September our team left for India. We took the bus to Calcutta (India) and we recieved 6 air tickets from Calcutta to Hyderabad for attending the Grand Finals. One of our members Faisal could not make it with us to India because of visa problems, we were four members instead of five members. We took a random guy from India and used him as a substitute but we could not prove what we were worth as the substitute wasnt as good as our teammate back home. We stood fifth in the tournament, we believe we could have been at least second if we five were able to attend this event and then returned back home as we could not prove our Gaming skills. Special thanks to Ravi, Abishek, Maajid, and Bharath, Galib and also our gaming community site www.BanglaGamer.com for their support and the sponsored trip from Dhaka Bangladesh to Hyderabad India.
More Achievements National, and some sad memories and new additions-
We won all the events and Tournaments in Bangladesh till January 2009. After 2009 one of our core members Ohidul Islam Shibly had to leave our team as he got his admission in IBA (Dhaka University) and he certainly did not have any more time for professional gaming, so he quit the team. Another two members Rubaiyat Wahab left the team as he finished graduation and Sultan Mahmood left the team as his father passed away and he did not have time for gaming any more, specially as he was the only son he had to give more time to his family. Our team lost 3 members after January and we were left as three members Faisal jashim Uddin and Ashiqur Rahman Sami and Mohd. Shajjadur Rahman. After this serious loss of teammates we lost two consecutive tournaments one after the other. We took three new members in our team Mohiuddin Shojol, Saadman Sakib, Farhan Tawsif Rahman and started practicing to achieve beyond the limits once more.
Greatest Achievement of ShadowPlay
Our reformed team was going great in the team practices we beat all the teams in Bangladesh once more even more easier than before we were one of the best once more and to prove this World Cyber Games Asian Championships BD Qualifiers was ahead of us and we got more dedicated to win and the winners were to go to Singapore to attend the WCG Asia Grand Finals. The BD qualifiers was hosted by F1 management in University of Liberal Arts (Dhanmondi). We beat every team easily and then finally in the Finals we won without any fight resulting in ShadowPlay champion of BD Qualifiers.
We attended WCG Asia in Singapore. Bangladesh and SriLanka were the two countries that represented WCG Asia for the first time. There was lot of pressure on us, as the whole country had expectations. We were well prepared and confident that we would make our country proud. Unfortunately we were in the most difficult group which consisted of Malaysia and Vietnam including Srilanka. Malaysia and Vietnam were the finalists of ACG. The event consisted of 14 countries, and was hosted at Suntec City. Before we played our matches, there was the opening ceremony where we got to meet all of Asias top gamers. On that day, we practiced against NewZealand, India and Chinese Taipei, we beat them which made us more confident before our games.
On the day of the group games, the first game was against Malaysia, second against SL and third against Vietnam, we won agianst Srilanka and lost the other 2 games. As first timers it wasnt a bad experience and after all it was our first time and knowing that losing against the best wasnt that a bad feeling.
We look forward to attending more international tournaments both online and offline. Looking forward for sponsors who would help us in the process.
