Default Army of Four apparently in development and using Frostbite 2 engine

Ooh, bit nippy round these parts, ain’t it? That might be because we’re about to lead into a tenuous joke about being cold because of EA’s Frostbite 2 engine (last seen powering Battlefield 3) resurfacing in a rumoured third Army of Two game. Thank you, thank you. Try the sea bass, we hear it’s horrendously overpriced.

If interweb rumours are anything to go by the blossoming, shooty bromance between Army of Two’s Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem is about to be interrupted by another two muscle-bound mercs. That’s right, we’re talking four player co-op, younglings.

We’re informed by a reliable insider source (namely, a sodding big purple dinosaur) that two plus two indeed equals four. This being so, it’s hardly surprising the rumoured co-op shooter is apparently named Army of Four. Although prepare to insert a sad emoticon, because allegedly development isn’t going well. Again, this is all just online tittle tattle at the moment.

The game is supposedly being made by EA’s Montreal studio, though rumours suggests development might be struggling. But seeing as DICE built the Frostbite engine and have just finished Battlefield, we’d be surprised if a few members of the Swedish developer weren’t drafted in to help.

What say you? Are you excited about the possibility of the so far underwhelming series embracing four player action? In all honesty, all we can really remember about the 40th Day is taking cover behind the rotting rusk of a hippo. Ah, memories. Anyhoo, share your thoughts in the comments section.
