Thread: What is going to happen to the CS scene ?

  1. #1

Default What is going to happen to the CS scene ?

With WCG not being held this year and many of players from the CS 1.6 community frustrated. Do you think that people from 1.6 will shift to CSS or find any other way to keep it alive.
Do CS players feel like COD is replacing them in Bangladesh ?

    Feed Backs required.

COD is still way too far..

There should be initiatives to keep the 1.6 Community alive..

For this we need to do more tourneys or show matches.
Nothing is more fun to watch than an Epic game of 1.6

    yeah..
But it was awful that we missed the WCG this year..
We had been practicing since the start of January with only "HOPES"..
And now the proper motivation is fading..

Only Frequent tourneys could save this community back !

the fact about CS:S and CS 1.6 in Bangladesh gaming scene is old and veteran gamers are enjoying it fully whereas the new generation gamers are concentrating on COD4 now, COD4 popularity went skyhigh in the past year, and I've seen CS:S players switching to COD4. CS:S/CS:1.6 could be history in the next one or two year..

It might be judging from the vids so far and the live stream yesterday. The AWP doesn't feel like the AWP anymore, more like a very very powerful toy gun 1.6 is becoming difficult to support on the hardware side of things. CSS is relatively safer, updated engine, constant support, and new patches made it more competitive. Only problem is its community (globally) has shrunk a lot in the last 2 years.

    1.CS:GO is a HUGE disappointment.

2.All the games, CS-1.6, CS:S, COD4, all of them are great. If these games were blunders, they wouldn't have become so popular in our country, let alone the world.

3.Once again I'm saying, all three titles are great. But, 1.6 is truly somewhat special. Whereas tournaments are frequently happening in other countries for 1.6, we are letting this game to die. Yes CS:S tournaments are getting frequently organized. Can't it be done for 1.6 as well?

4.I don't want to attack anyone. But, when a CS:S tournament is happening, atleast 2-3 teams from 1.6 goes and participates, making the tournament more lively. Can the same be said for CS-1.6? I certainly think not.

5.Organizing CS-1.6 is not as hard in the hardware sector as people think. This game is dying only because there are less than 8 teams. That is the main issue here. Not technicality.

Once again I'm stating that all three games are great. But you just can't let a game of 1.6's caliber just die for a "better version" or a "better game".

Nobody is letting it go because of another game Jinpachi. Its just that the biggest tournament for 1.6 is no longer happening in BD. 1.6 jodi WCG te kokhonoi na ashto, tahole ki erokom popularity kokhonoi paito? No, so when the only reason the community built up for is gone there's little reason for some people to stick around. Some will of course stay, but if things don't change fast then even they too will leave. Everyone wants to have a good time afterall.

    Yes, agreed.
But we are loosing the mentality of working this out.
I dnt see gamers like me will find any motive in even trying if there isnt any grand title in sight. Ofcourse, the CSS community is big.. And im sure my team will make its mark in the top positions once we switch back to it.. But where's the incentive? Which tournament should i dream on winning? IUT? Christmas tourney? Are these enough to make us work hard for gaming alongside studies?

I guess we've had enough regrets.. So.. Lets move on
    Plan for future.

In my opinion, CS players wont be switching to COD or any of those games. COD mayb a great game, But according to my experience, we took 1.6 to a new level of competition, esp in the last 4 months. The WCG - Not happening was indeed a set-back & only CSS is only option left for gaming. And since many of those OLD school 1.6 gamers know DOTA.. some of us might even switch to DOTA

However, Some 1.6 lovers (Like me ) will try their best to Keep it alive!

CS:GO is not yet ready enough to be played. Even the Pro's admit it. They are all trying to promote this game because they are paid to.. Players like cArn, Get_righT, Esenin, HeatoN are giving out CS:GO keys every night to promote it, But deep down Im sure even they wont switch to it.

CS:S is far more popular than 1.6, you could say that looking at the popularity of DC's server, but when DC closed CS:S server and opened 1.6 server, then most of the people left, whereas at the last days of DC's server you can see even in daylight the server was full. There are still MANY people left who will play CS:S, if they get good host. People are simply forced to play 1.6, because it is in WCG. Personally, i will always prefer CS:S.

    IMO,

About CS:GO, CS:GO always looked bad, and everybody predicted that it should be bad. To me, it looked like just another korean multiplayer game. The beauty of DE_Dust2 and DE_Nuke and others are completely destroyed, it looks horrendous for both source player and 1.6 player. Thus, meaning that Global Offensive isn't much of a great game. Although I DIDN'T PLAY IT.

Bruticus, you are right, 1.6 players may not switch to CoD, but I simply did, because it was a whole new community, and it was also pretty fun and addictive. Thus, many players are switching to CoD. heck, even in abroad you can see players like ClaYman switched to call of duty.

People advance, the cycle is this, 1.6 -> Source -> COD -> BF3 (That has a strong chance, although no LAN is a letdown.)

"CSS is far more popular than 1.6" ... sorry can't agree with you on that ... but even if it is, the reason is something different that I would not like to mention.

yes, without big tournaments it's really hard to keep it going but let's see what happens. Bangladeshi gaming community should not stop or slow down just because there's no WCG. Hoping to see more events in the upcoming years.

Scott.. Whos this ClaYman ? And from which team?
Sorry Im not a good CS:Source follower.. :$

And some of us here were not playing since January for fun or addiction.. We were trying to take it to the next level.. Im sure u'll get the hint.. once u get to know some of us in person.. And that is why, gamers prefers to Quit - rather than SWITCH.

And Btw... Thanks to the Servers! It helpd in many ways.
Must Admit It helped players to develop their own personal skills for sure, But in Bangladesh.. it can never help in building a winning team.... Indeed both the servers did gain a lot of popularity and was always appreciated.

WCG surely was one of the biggest reasons, it won't die in just a day you know, it'll take time if it indeed does die. And just like a lot of people stayed with 1.6 after the release of CSS, a lot of people will stay with CSS after the release of CSGO.

Valve has been trying hard to satisfy the competitive scene of 1.6 and CSS with GO, they know how important that is. Hence the secret meeting with the players and their constant feedback. But of course some people will never be satisfied, and that might include me as well.

And that post you quoted doesn't really mean anything. THey are given the keys by Valve to give them away, some are exploiting that and selling them. That doesn't even remotely suggest that a game is bad. I have heard the general complaints of the game and most seem to think that the problems can be fixed after the server is loaded with a competitive CFG. Changes like lower acceleration (to adjust strafe speed), higher minimum rates etc.

And BF3 has practically no chance in BD, CSS ei thik FPS ashena abar BF3 te? lol

Oh and another thing, lets not make this into a 1.6 vs X game. All games have their strengths and people have their own opinions, keep that in my mind and help each other out

Obviously WCG is the main reason for CS 1.6's popularity, people shifted to Promod in COD4 due to WCG.

Ok, now, how many CS:S and CS:1.6 have teams in BD?
