Post Updating dasboard to 13604 on LT+ 2.0

My current dashboard version is 13599 and flashed with lt+ 2.0 . The console is an elite.

When I try to play video files, it says I need a media update. But when I try to update, it says I need to update my dashboard first.

So my ques is, is it safe to update to 13604 without screwing up lt+ 2.0??

While googling about it, I read on a forum that online updates may bust it, but offline usb update is ok. Although some people still commented that they had problems running the game after the update.

So wanna make sure if anyone here has done it or know about it. I flashed mine to lt+ 2.0 just a few days ago, and screwing it up this soon will only make me waste money :/

Is it really that important for you to play video files on you console. Is it worth the risk? Ask yourself that.

Actually... it should be safe... 13604 just has a compatibility update over 13599 for a steering wheel or something... firmware remains intact.... but I wouldn't recommend it.

For updating Consoles... it's better to take giant leaps than small steps.

It's not like important for me to play videos. I was just thinking, why can't my Xbox play video files. When it asked to update I gave a second thought about it and posted it here.

As far as I have googled, the new dashboard update silently changes dae.bin file, the file which checks anti-piracy. Thus it may cause all pirated XGD3 disks become unreadable. So the update really is risky!

Media Update and Dashboard Update are different. Rather than going on XBOX Live to update your console, download the Media Update on to your PC then update your console using an USB Flash Drive. I myself did the media update on my console when I had a Phat 360. Whatever LT it was 1.4 or whatever... I saw Smallville upto season 6 on my Xbox 360.
