    Default R9 280x or 380?

Hey guys new here, so I'm hoping I got the section right ..

    Anyway, I'm a PC noob who bought a new PC recently(i5 4590+ gigabyte gb 6 sniper mobo+TEAM 8gigs 1600mhz ddr3 ram)

and I just need a GPU to set it up for gaming.

I seek 40-45fps(basically fps never dipping below 30) 1080p gameplay on med settings of the latest games so I am setting my eyes on med range cards.

So I was thinking which GPU I should get:

    1.Sapphire R9 280x 3GB DDR5 DUAL-X
    2.
    Sapphire NITRO R9 380 4GB DDR5 DP DUAL-X OC

I know the 380 is just a re-branded 285 but the 280x is almost nowhere to be found.. e.e

Would settling for a 380 be a good decision(I mean it has a extra 1gb of VRAM...That should come in handy in the future right?) or should I keep looking for a 280x?

Also, I still don't have the full funds to buy the cards yet..Will the 280x be even harder to find as time goes on? t.t

I have no experience buying PC hardware prior to this so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    Get a r9 390, or a 280X. don't go with the 380, it's good for now but won't be after a while.

380 cant fully use 4gb vram anyway... so doesnt matter....

but in some games there is a difference between 380 2gb vs 4gb.

280x beats 380... but not a big difference i think

    smart selling gb 380 4gb at 22k.

you wont find 280x 1st hand anymore in BD shops... but i think some groups import xfx 280x at kinda low price probably without warranty

You could say the 380 4GB is a bit better than 280 3GB. Most ppl used to recommend 280 3GB over 285 2GB bcuz of the extra 1GB vram.

285/380 is the latest revision of GCN though, which includes Delta color compression, Better Tessellation, TrueAudio, FreeSync.

Haha..Alright I'll look for the store...

As for the 280x is there absolutely no way of getting it other than importing it?

Also does stuff like TrueAudio, Free sync really make a big impact in gameplay?

All things aside the card that gives the best fps would be the one I want tho

As for the 280x is there absolutely no way of getting it other than importing it?

Also does stuff like TrueAudio, Free sync really make a big impact in gameplay?
    no not 1st hand.

trueaudio- amd has only 17% market share... amd doesnt have the market share to do something significant honestly.

mantle- very good thing, one of the best thing happened to pc gaming graphics world recently but dx12 is nearly here... so mantle is pretty much dead.

free sync- it will be a thing trust me... bigger than gsync... freesync non proprietary and it will soon become a standard

^ hmm no Freesync could be a bother.....

But I doubt that the 280x could push higher than 60fps on any of the newer games anyway so it won't really hit the monitors refresh rate....

    but should I get a 380 then?

Also is buying a 2nd hand gpu a good idea?

Again, I'm a complete noob on PC hardware >.<

380 is just a re-branded or slightly upgraded version of 285 which was an upgrade from 280. The older Tonga is now been replaced by new Antigua Pro and has slightly better temperature and power control.

280X was better than the 285 and should still be better than 380 but might not have some advanced features. My friend recently wanted to upgrade his system, from a HD6570 to something that can play GTA 5. So I asked him to get a R9 390 8GB but he didn't want to spend that much money on a GPU so I asked him to get a 280X but UCC don't have the 200 series cards anymore so we ended up taking the R9 380 4GB, at full HD resolution this card just awesome, I didn't have any issue on any games and the card looks cool too.

Btw this card doesn't cost 25k for sure. What is wrong with ryans!
