    You need to sum your budget up a bit, even with that much you won't even get anything good for a year.

    Yes, Intel DG31 supports Core2Duo/Core2Quad. So it'll support E7400, but I wouldn't suggest that. Look for a E5xxx dual core, it's a decent CPU for it's price. Shouldn't be more than 4.5K, & E7400 is overpriced, if it's 7.4K.

    AFAIK E6600 is available. Can't say whether E6800 is available or not. If it's available then the price should be around 6k. So IMO you take your money, go to market & buy the best processor available in the market . If E6800 is available then take it otherwise go for lower model.

    a e6600 should be better than e7400 which has just an extra L2 cache but slower for its lower clock speed but overpriced...e6xxx way better overclocker.reaching 4ghz with stock cooler is quite easy although unfortunately his mobo won't allow OC....
