    Lightbulb Enemy Front

City Interactive announces Stuart Black-designed Enemy Front

City Interactive has announced Enemy Front, a FPS currently in works with ex-Codemasters developer Stuart Black as lead designer.

Taking place during World War II, the first-person action-shooter tells the tale of a solider dropped behind enemy lines who must engage in and complete “dynamic, diversified missions ranging from quick skirmishes, espionage assignments, and sabotage activities.”

The game’s story spans several years, and includes key moments in history such as a quest in Wolf’s Lair and the actions surrounding the deciphering of the Enigma code. Historical battles will be fought as well from France to Berlin, eventually leading to a secret weapons base where a “terrifying weapon that will all but assure a global Nazi victory” must be destroyed.

Enemy Front is being developed with CryEngine 3 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and will be released sometime next year.

Enemy Front moves up in spring 2014

City Interactive's Enemy Front, now under the direction of Far Cry 3 narrative designer and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine director Raphael van Lierop, is expected to launch in the spring of 2014 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The game is currently being shown at PAX, with gameplay featuring the game's non-linear combat sandbox. Players can approach the game's WW2 missions through combat or stealth.

City Interactive has finally announced the release date for Enemy Front

Enemy Front has been scheduled to release on June 10th in the US and June 13th in the UK for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. City Interactive explained in an examiner interview last week why the game would not be making its way to the Xbox One or PS4, you can read about that right here. Hopefully the PS3 and Xbox 360 can handle CryEngine 3 relatively well as performance for games like Crysis 2 and 3 were a bit hit and miss.

In addition, City Interactive has released a new gameplay reveal trailer which you can view just below

    Enemy Front Gameplay Reveal Trailer

The official website for the game also details some new information which you can view just below.

    • Breathtaking visuals, highly dynamic environments, and spectacular blockbuster action across many iconic Resistance operations of WW2.
    • Deep Resistance Fighter gameplay blends fast-paced FPS action with thrilling stealth, sniping, and clandestine operations in the first true sandbox WW2 game.
    • Full arsenal of WW2 weaponry across all categories of hand-guns, SMGs, and rifles, as well as signature Resistance weapons including the Sten gun, Welrod Silenced Pistol, and Lightning SMG.
    • Introducing franchise protagonist Roy Hawkins, American war correspondent turned hero of the Resistance, and a memorable cast of Resistance leaders in France, Norway, and Warsaw.

Enemy Front’s Campaign Will Last 10-12 Hours, Includes “Highly Destructible” Environments

A detail important to most single players, Enemy Front’s campaign length has been revealed.

The campaign length for the WWII FPS, Enemy Front, has been revealed via the game’s official website. According to details listed, the campaign should last the average player around 10-12 hours, which is a pretty reasonable length for a FPS. If you’re a seasoned FPS player, I’d chop off a few hours off that playtime. Thankfully, the campaign is looking pretty good and could have a strong narrative to push things along if the previous story trailer is any indication.

In addition to the campaign length, the official website also states that the game will have, “Highly destructible environments and advanced sandbox AI .” With the current limitations of the PS3 and Xbox 360, we’ll have to wait and see if those claims hold true, but having large amounts of destruction in a WWII FPS isn’t very common so this could be pretty exciting.
