    Default PC crashes when gaming

    This is my first post
A month ago I bought a new pc with a sapphire radeon hd 6770.Since then I am having problem playing games.
When I run any game like GTAIV , Crysis 2 , COD MW2 etc , after sometimes when playing games the screen becomes grey with white vertical lines and crashes to desktop.this i also known as "grey screen of death". windows shows this message "ATI display driver stopped working and has recovered".then I see flickering in windows and eventually have to restart pc from start menu.

Sometimes when gaming the screen goes totally black and pc restarts automatically showing a "Hyper transport sync flood error" when booting up. When windows loads up it shows message about "unexpected shutdown".

The problems mentioned above happens randomly.sometimes 10 minutes or sometimes 6-7 hours of gaming.
I have tested cpu with prime95,tested ram with memtest and they are stable and cpu temp is normal(55c).Even tested GPU temp with GPU-Z and it also shows temp is normal(35c idle,65c when gaming),fan speed is auto.

so, can someone tell me if this is a problem with my card or driver (tested both 11.9 and 11.10) or any other hardware.
is it a over heating problem with cpu?

first of all turn off " cool and quiet" from the bios....then try switching to igp (remove the gpu)

plug out all pci and usb devices, also disable them from the BIOS, disable the gigabit LAN

lower the HT multiplier and FSB.

its may be mobo issue, not the cpu. some part of the interconnect / io downstream is malfunctioning and becoming asynchronous with the cpu clock.
possibly due to static damage? overvoltage? bad soldering by the manufacturer?

the memory voltage can be a problem if it's too low when the system stresses...

First of all thanks for your response.
what should be the memory voltage of my ram.strange thing is on warranty sticker on ram it says " 4GB UNB PC3-10600,but cpu-z detects its PC3-10700. is this a problem?
a have also heard it can be with the RAM's wrong timing cycle.is this correct?

Yes ram timing can be a problem.Try setting the manual timing for ram from bios.
Though I think u may have to go for warranty finally

well I have already changed the mobo 2times because of this problem and this is my third one.I don't think they will change it again. I also know people who has the same mobo but they don't have any problem.
my question is why does it only crashes when gaming?
and is 500W psu enough to run my pc?

tr2 500w is enough for your pc but your one can be faulty..test your pc with another psu if you can manage...but to me its more of a timing/clock/voltage related problem......

OP: can you try MSI Kombuster stress test for like 30mins to see if it artifacts ? Since it's crashing when playing games, your GPU is somewhat stressed under 3D. It's doable that your PSU is faulty, I would do a series of MSI Kombuster, IBT, Prime95 & lastly OCCT PSU test to see if the system is stable under these extreme conditions.

what is IBT and if i stress my pc with occt psu test is there a chance that it can damage my system?
have u personally used OCCt PSU test?

Yes & no, it won't damage your system. But watch your temperatures, as your system takes the stress. Your GPU should be fine anything up 75C & as for the CPU, try to keep it below 62C (though this is the max rated for Phenom-IIs), should be similar for an Athlon.

it is simply impossible to keep athlon IIX4 cpu temp(not the core temps) within 62C range...its max rated temp should be around ~75C i guess...
