    Exclamation sudden HDD crash...

    hello gamers,
currently i'm facing a weird and critical problem,

if u see my rig, u can find that i'm using a Asus P5QC(Intel P45, ICH 10r) mobo, my motherboard is equipped with 3 different HDD controller, one is in southBridge Intel® Matrix Storage which contains 6 xSATA 3 Gb/s ports, another is Marvell 88SE6111 which controls cd/dvd rom and Silicon Image SIL5723 contains 2 sata port for raid. I have 2 HDD's and a IDE Dvd rom, so i configured my system as follows-

DVD rom plugged on Marvell 88SE6111
Primary HDD Hitachi 1TB(contains windows) plugged on Silicon Image SIL5723 as i dont have to remove my primary HDD most often
secondary HDD Hitachi 160gb plugged in southBridge Intel® Matrix Storage and configured as AHCI as i wanted to hot swap that HDD for different purposes.

So. from beginning i was facing some problems regarding the stability of my system and as my system is overclocked i thought the problem was related to unstable overclock, but a new problem appeared that sometime when i turn on my system my primary HDD was undetected my bios and showing the message that "insert proper boot device and run the setup" and if i turn off Marvell 88SE6111 controller from bios again my primary HDD got detected and able to login in windows.

Just day b4 yesterday i bought a Game DVD and Had to install it, so again from BIOS i turn on the Marvell 88SE6111 controller to enable my DVD drive and login to windows, while installing the game suddenly i got BSOD and after that restart system windows na dhuke amar shob drive scan kora shuru korlo and after a while i got a message that windows file is corrupted, so again ami Bios e gelam r Marvell 88SE6111 off kore dilam tarpor abar try korlam to access in windows but again system amar full HDD scan kora shuru korlo and eventually dekhalm kon drive e jani 4kb bad sector porcey but after that scan windows a access kora gelo..............at that time i was very confused shomossa ta kothai motherboard e naki HDD te naki HDD cable e...

So to be sure ami amar oi 1 TB'r HDD ta @arif er bashai niye jai(as he's my neighbor), and or system e laganor por o dekhi or system shudhu scan kore amar HDD ta and tar shathe HDD teh oneek noise hochhe r shobcheye worst thing holo HDD'r bhitore "kiit kiit" shobdo hochhe,

so kono upay na peye ami abar notun kore windows install kori, then HD tune on korle HDD health e "Ultra DMA Crc error count" e warning dichhe and also windows oneek slow hoye gese and theke theke freeze kortese and theke theke HDD theke clicking sound ashtese.......

i'm really looking for some expert opinion and help....

Do you have a warranty for the HDD?Suggest you get it changed quick or take other options there are valid reasons why this is happening.

1st of check your HDDs, on a different PC. See if they functioning properly, the clicking can be temporary. Idk why it's happening all of a sudden, but HDD clicking is usually a sign that it's dieing.

Secondly is your overclock stable, or did you tweak the SB voltages for your overclock recently ? Reset everything back to default & try plugging your HDD again.

    If it's clicking, check

    i) If the Sata cable is connected properly or if it is faulty. Ultra DMA CRC Error = Failed Seeks = clicking noise

If not, I'm afraid you've got a dying drive in your hands.

The CRC errors shouldn't happen unless the Sata interface ports (On both or either end) are faulty or your cable is bad. Is this a Samsung? I had the same issue with one of my F3s, turns out it was the shitty 12 pack of Chinese cables I bought.

Swapped it with an OEM Intel one and it's been purring along fine.

My one is Hitachi 1TB, previously i was using a OEM sata cables(comes with gigabyte mobo), then i replaced that with another OEM one(which was full intact), i know that UDMA crc error occurs for faulty sata cables but thats just a cause among others, in my case its not sata cable something much worst..

Best step 'll be backup every available data and claim warranty. I think there is some data recovery companies in BD, they might help you.

@musvi bhaiya I would unplug the HDD as soon as possible. The more active the drive is(mechanically), the less chance for to recover your valuable data.
