Thread: My gtx 760 was burnt !!!

  1. #1

Default My gtx 760 was burnt !!!

Brothers. Recently my msi gtx 760 was burnt automatically. I went to star tech(bought from there). they told, they have nothing to do. I wont get replacement although i have warranty. Then i complained to msi global office. They told "computer source" and "UCC" to look into this matter. I contacted with ucc, and they told me to take the gpu to them directly.

Now i need ur suggestion. What should i do? will i get replacement? I have not burnt it. I had no fault. plz help me out.

My Power supply is good, i think. Thermaltake smart M550 watt. 80 plus bronze. The gpu ran over 1 and half year nicely. I never over clocked it even.

You power supply definitely fried it when it was on load even though it may run fine afterwards. My corsair cx 650 gold slowly fried my 780 as I wasn't aware of the fact that low quality psu may fall in voltage on load and damage gpu. Luckily I had it returned. Never going to buy any value series psu again.

So what should i tell ucc? Both the psu and gpu are from them. if i tell them, your psu burnt it. i believe they wont believe. Just tell me the way, so that they give my gpu replace. Its not possible for me to get another one with that price :-(

As you haven't bought it from UCC or Computer source, I highly doubt if they are gonna do anything and as for the power supply, don't think it's a psu fault because that would have damaged the other components too and another reason is, I'm kinda skeptic about MSI's nvidia cards right now, recently made a horrific discovery anyway still see if you can convince the Star Tech guys.

and ask them why they are thinking it to be burnt.

I have no one who is known to ucc. But one thing is there. When i told global msi office about this, they charged ucc and source. they have called me immediately and told-sir? bring that gpu.we will see what can we do. I think, msi gave a bamboo as i complained to them. If that bamboo works... i dont know what will they do

I bought it from star tech. but msi global office charged them as i complained to them. Then ucc and source both called. Computer source told that, they didnt buy it. the serial number does not match with them. But they told-Sir? yet we are bound to give you the service.please bring that gpu to us (After getting bamboo from msi, they were so tensed i feel :-p )

can you share what you have discovered in msi's nvidia series please bro. other BG geeks always share their psu/gpu 'adventure' stories.

personally, i saw a looot of sapphire raedon cards die in last 12 months... i personally think recently then number of sapphire raedon card died/problematic is 4 times the number of nvidia cards died in BD.

    they will never

you know... sadness... in BG we always tell people to invest in psu... but they dont listen they listen to fb geeks who sometimes even recommend non-brand psus sadness, i saw those people even recommend fortex psus for power hungry gpus like 5870s. 3 years ago those fb geeks thought power supply efficiency indicates max dc power output when in reality efficiency indicates max ac power draw from wall socket

also, is hercules pro is better than cm gx2 or tt tr2 or tt lp new series? i saw you recommending hercules pro for low end gigs...

Nah, CM GX2 and TT Tr2 is better than Hercules series. Hercules is just better than the non-branded/chinese branded ones.

we have to know whether redwan bro is only talking about cards that shipped to BD by official distributors... because they are better than the rest of the world

Actually it is!!! If he said he uses the Smart SE then I would've agreed. But since it's SP (the first gen.) I think the GPU wasn't worthy enough for the good guy PSU in Thor's eyes Anyway Protik whatever-last-name, do you use a UPS?

and ask them why they are thinking it to be burnt.
Can you share your discovery with us senpai? I'm sure I can make something worth your while

Oh sure, remember Super series from Gigabyte. Glad you kicked that out of stock

Also his model is old, I don't think this is primarily the reason why it did. There was a post in Gaming group hardware where a guy's MSI GTX 970 got fried, yep one of MSI's failure rate weirdness

Well as they have asked you to bring the card to them, so see what happens.

As for the discovery, it still is pretty premature to tell but we might be getting refurbished cards in our country atleast on MSI.

About sapphire, they are awesome but failure rate of recent AMD cards are high don't know what the hell is wrong with them.
