L.A. Noire Creator Working on "One of the Great Untold Stories of the 20th Century"
Former Team Bondi boss speaks about his next big project.
Brendan McNamara, writer and director of The Getaway and L.A. Noire, is making a video game based on what he's described as "one of the great untold stories of the 20th Century."
Speaking to the former Team Bondi boss at the Bradford Animation Festival 2011 Eurogamer reports McNamara hopes to be able to talk about the game within a matter of weeks.
"It's pretty interesting," McNamara told Eurogamer. "It's one of the great untold stories of the 20th Century. So I think it'll be good."
Since the closure of Sydney-based Team Bondi amid allegations of poor working conditions McNamara has spent his time writing a new game.
Team Bondi's assets and an unknown number of staff have been transferred to KMM (a production company founded by Mad Max and Happy Feet director George Miller). Rockstar owns the L.A. Noire property, confirming in a recent investor call the game has been a high performer "and has become an important franchise for the company."
"A lot of people who were working on L.A. Noire have gone across to KMM, some of them to be working on some of the film projects," said McNamara. "A lot of the art and animation guys went across. Some of the people have gone to work in different Rockstar studios. I'm personally just writing some new stuff now, which I've been pitching around for the last couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll have something to announce on that pretty soon."
McNamara said the project would be of a similar scale to L.A. Noire.
