Question Help me buying a new PC

    My choice:

    MSI H61-E33
Core i5 2300 (95w) [No intention to OC thats why i choosed it]
    Super Talent 2x2GB DDR31333 (CL8)
MSI RADEON 6850 Cyclone II Power Edition/OC (135w)

***My PSU is TT Litepower 430w with 23A on +12v rails.

    Suggestion needed please!

if u r not into overclock, the spec. seems ok, but i personally do not like MSI and definitely give my preference to Asus in case of mobo and also gpu, and if u r going for an i5 go for core i5 2400 and if u can get a better psu(even though ur current psu is okk but again i lost trust in lower end Thermaltake psu unit)

    Happy buying..

A better explanation of hating MSI would really really help me, coz im gonna take a big step. Once i used MSI G945 motherboard way back in 2007, that was a total crap. Since then im avoiding it. But suddenly im seeing lot of posters, activities and few features of MSI which influenced/encourged me to go for the MSI.

    I ran 5830 (raw 175watt), Core2 Duo E8400 (raw 65w), ADATA XPG (1.8v) with that PSU where 6850 consumes only 127 watt

I also have some bad experience with msi motherboards and dont know a lott about msi gpu's, so after those bad encounters i didn't want to take any risk, thats all, but i'm a very satisfied customer of Asus and Gigabyte..

Somehow, I refuse to believe that.

    A litepower 430 provides only 350w.But whatever,it's your risk.

Yes MSI has a bad reputation in the h/w enthusiast area compared to Asus/Gigabyte, but that's somewhat past. About MSI GPUs ? They are better than Asus/Gigabyte GPUs any day, the non reference PCBs are so well designed, it takes overclocking to a whole new level. Oh & avoid AMD 8xx MSI boards, don't even think about them, but that's fixed in the 9xx boards. Their Intel Z68/P67 GD series are good, very well designed, at least go with a GD65 if you are building a new PC.

With that said, @Infracted , ditch the H61 MSI, go for something else ~Asus/Gigabyte, MSI low end boards are way to crap to tbh.

EDIT: @nasim , start your own topic when you have the appropriate no of posts in the BG Shop section. This is the h/w section, & not used for selling/buying stuff.

Very good Question. What about MSI guys?

    @abhi4168 , 67/z8 are outta ma budget
h67 is really handy, coz next year sandy bridge will be upgraded to IVy bridge and guess what h67/z68 will be compatible with that, so pretty much future proof. So thats why i was saying that, if budget doesnt support it, then there is nothing u can do

Cool suggestion. Are you suggesting to get H67? not P67 right? What about the ECS one?

h67 is cheaper than p67, thats why was suggesting that, z68/h67/p67 all will support ivy bridge according to this . no idea about ECS as a company.

@Infracted then i guess its vendor dependant. best idea is to check the website link of the exact model u r gonna buy and look for bios update to support 22nm CPU(IVY BRIDGE) coz as I can see gigabyte already released bios updates for their z68/h67/p67 to support ivy bridge. I dont know the model no of the gigabyte h61 available in bd otherwise i would also have checked that.

Get the H61 board if you're on a low budget build and if you don't need RAID support and Sata 3.0 ports.

    Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2P-B3 or GA-H61M-S2V-B3

How are these boards? Which one is better? I guess the 2nd one, right?

Better get the Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2P-B3; get 2300/2400 as fit in budget budget. Change the psu in 2/3 month with somthing better.
