    Ofcourse it is.

However, you can still play your current games properly with this config. You might want to wait around 3-4 months and wait for prices of 4870x2 to drop a little n then get that.

    Up to you.

But yes, Definitely worth the upgrade, either one. Single or x2

Wait for Gigabyte 4870. It will hit the market within one week. Price will be around-

    4850-15,000-16,000
    4870-21,000-22,000

at 1024x768, i would recommend buying a big fat LCD rather than upgrading the GPU. you will see very little change in performance, since the 8800GT can easily handle games at that resolution

Except mazhar no1 actually cared about the real facts....which is resolution...!!

to the host> if u plan to game at 1024 X 768 for couple of months or so simply sit on ur 8800... I have read 4870 or 4850's price will be reduced after 09 february and it'll be a lot easier to do the plunge for ur desired gfx at dat time.

and yes like mazhar i would say u r better off buying a 21" lcd or so which is the only bottleneck i can c in ur setup.

Australian-I feel for ya bro gaming on a piece of crap you should be twice as good at any game you play. Thats really really a scary thought. Part of me does not want you to get a new rig.

exactly. At that resolution, there would be almost NO difference in performance between the 8800GT and the 4850. to be honest, the 8800GT might actually perform better than the 4850 at 1024x768, since the 4850 flexes its muscles above 1280x1024.

    so, get a new LCD.

Why change ur GPU only after 1month ?:S. ofcourse 4870 beats 8800s by a mile...but still akhono 8800GT is good.
