Default Suggest a smartphone for my dad

My dad's old "feature phone" died today, and he is offering to take my Lumia 630 and buy me a newer model tomorrow. But knowing that he likes to take pictures much more than I do, I think he deserves a phone with a better camera than a Lumia 630 can offer. So I'd appreciate if anyone can suggest a better phone for him considering the following points.

    Budget: ~12-16k.

Camera: Need the best camera in this price range. The only thing my dad is going to do with this phone other than talking is taking photos.

Battery life: Should be good enough. Though he won't surf web or play games with this phone, he receives non-stop calls everyday and the battery should last more than a single day under this conditions.

Look and build: Should look good, but looks are not going to be the main focus. Build is a bit more important. The only reason he wants to take my Lumia is because I have tested and proved that My Lumia doesn't break even if I smash it to the ground once or twice.

Performance and Gaming: Not important. If the interface feels lag free to a 50 year old person then it would be enough.

OS and App support: Not important at all.

Important Edit: Forgot one thing. It must be dual-sim.

tl;dr: Suggest a camera focused dual-sim smartphone within ~12-16k budget for my dad.

i know you need camera more than performance, but performance wise no android phone comes close to 140$ xiaomi redmi note 2 at that budget. check reviews for camera...

for camera android- probably moto g or zenfone 2, some walton or symphony rebrands have quite good camera though

you should look into lumia... they have better cameras

How's the camera on the Zenphones? I found the interface really nice, it's not slow at all and as a phone it's really good and not that expensive either.

I am suggesting you two keypad classic phone.

@Swapnil I think Nokia 515 is good choice you should check in off course dual sim. It is the best you can get now within your budget price 12K in market I guess. Try finding this phone as this became rare in BD for people shifted to Android.

If not dual sim but a bit more stylish keypad handset is Blackberry Q10.

Redmi note 2 looks nice. It has 13MP camera, I wonder how the lens and sensor performs. Will look up more on that. Thanks.

Dad won't like the blackberry one. He doesn't like small keys or small text. And the Nokia 515 sure looks sturdy, but I'm looking for a better camera. Thanks anyways.

look for symphony zvi which uses imx214 sensor and there is another symphony model which i can't recall cost around 13-14k which also uses imx214 these 2 should give good quality picture. you can even look at lenovo k3 note. it also has a good camera.

redmi note 2 cost around 170$ at geekbuying and will take a month to be available here at a price of 17k and the prime might be priced at near 20k. moreover it yet to see the real life permanence. i think it will be decent but will make picture overexposed at lighting area in low light condition.

about zenfone laser it uses the same Toshiba sensor of other zenfone but it have laser af which helps the af problem that has with previous zenfone 2 models and i believe they used batter pic processing algorithm in the laser version.

zenfone 2 cameras are decent but they struggle with focusing and balanced exposure. if you take 3 different pic of same thing i will not be surprised if all of them look different from each other.

Isn't that the same model as Huawei Honor 4C? I really liked that one overall, but it doesn't have gorilla glass.

Will skip symphony for now. Have a little allergy against the brand. Looking into lenovo now. Thanks.

you can buy this as the camera is the most important thing here i think in 16k nothing can be good than this and also it has a good interface running at stock os might not be the most powerful phone in this budget but its a good phone for casual use

Why are people afraid to mention Galaxy Prime? for 14k that seems good and it has a great camera

Looks like in this budget it's really hard to get a phone with both Gorilla Glass and Back Illuminated camera sensor. Only one that I could find is Xiaomi Redmi 2. Anyone have any review/opinion on that? Camera samples seems nice, and price is low too.

I think it's not like being afraid and more like thinking that TFT Screen + Touchwiz + 1GB RAM in 2015 is a bad idea, even for a middle aged person.

Xiaomi Redmi 2's camera is great in it's price point. I bought one for my mother a month ago. Display, Size (one handed use), Performance, Camera is really good, but picture quality is slightly warm if you are okay with that.
You can spend the extra money on MicroSD card, Back Cover or Flip COver & earphone.

Yap, I did decide to buy the Redmi 2. But unfortunately I couldn't. It's unavailable everywhere I've looked at chittagong. And the fastest someone can import one for me would be in two weeks. Finally bought a Huawei Honor 4C.
