Default Solution for most common UPS cauzing reset after Ac fail.

i used to had this reset issue. several friends of mine too.

    Reason for the failure:

1.Generic PSU has low (hold up) time.

2.High powered pc with low powerd UPS

lets say 17"crt dual core p4, dedicated GPU with 650va UPS

but 800 va is the very minimum in such case.

3.if branded PSU has reset issue then there is Faulty capacitor in the PSU( bad CAPs reduces hold up time significantly)

so what is hold up time?

its the time PSU can keep the pc running Without AC power.

    usually 15 milisecond or 20ms

actually during this 15ms or 20ms time PC runs on the reserve

    power of the capacitor.

so now u know what is the importance of capacitor.

so, if hold up time is low ( BAD CAPS) PSU cant hold power long enough before ups throws power so a gap takes place and thats when restart occurs.

Those who r having restart issue with UPS just change to a Better PSU which has good hold up time like (atleast 10ms)

ppl with generic PSU usually face this issue.

and to screen out the problem:

make sure ur pC can run without being reset in normal condition.

then u can blame PSU or UPS and take steps accordingly.

and if u can run ur pc without resettting 2nd time on ups( after the 1st reset during power failure) then its very likely that ur PSU is the source of problem.

hope this helps to make u understand the relation between PSU and UPS

which UPS .. u r using along with what setup?

    give me ur whole configuration

besides it is very possible that some critical capacitor is

underferforming inside ur PSU. with underforming Caps it is still possible to run the pc without any problem. except dealing with UPS

n BTW delux er power +casing costs like 3000-3500

n the PSU alone shouldnt cost more than 1700-1800.

a frnd of mine bought just the PSU with 1700 taka 8 months ago.

    blame your UPS...?

    i love my PSU
even without UPS, it often holds up the PC during small blackouts (even when monitor turns off)
The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power.

after the 1st reset when AC fails if he can run his PC on UPS with out a 2nd reset untill the battery goes dry...then its very like that
    the PSU is the problem.

u should try to recreate the AC fail situation with another PSU and see if the problem is solved.

in my case when i replaced my psu the problem was completely solved and havent faced any sort of reset till now.

actually its not the PSU watt that matters most...

rather its the power component which is used inside the PSU.

most cases the capacitor<-easily repairable byurself and in exceptional case the regulator or transformer<--very hard to repair
and dosent even worth a try.

option 1.if u already own a good PSU then ill suggest just try to borrow another PSU from a friend of urs and try to recreate the AC fail situation by manually unplugging the power cord and see ur problem is solved or not.

option 2. Simply boot ur PC from the UPS(unplug the main AC cord) till windows and keep the PC on untill the whole batter goes dry. See if the reset occurs.IF it does then UR battery power is flactuating or not capable of giving stable voltage.

Ihav MISSED 1 strong FACT that UPS without AVR performs reallly bad in terms of stability.

BTW what is the VA rating of ur UPS ? and brand?
