Xbox 360 controller "version"?

I have completely given up my hope to use my Xbox controllers on my PC... and I was not able to get a gamepad from China, so my only option now is to get a Xbox 360 controller from here.

Lord SMS told me that there's something to do with the "version" or the date the 360 controllers were made, and apparently there is some problem with all controllers that were made after this certain day. Can someone please clarify this, and tell me how I can be sure in buying something that is definately going to work on my PC... something like a date or version number that I can check.

i though u were talking about Xbox 360... all controllers of 360 are ok regardless of version. so go for it.
