Default Help me decide, ECS GTX 560 or EVGA GTX 560 from Singapore or HD 6870

    Hi gamers!

I am in a huge dilemma and need your help in choosing the best gpu for me in terms of fps, gameplay & usability, all with keeping cost in mind.

We have to keep the following factors in mind:

    1. Budget is USD 200 or BDT 15K/16K
    2. My PSU is a Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W, in simpler words it has around 29A available on the 12V rails, 348W in total.
    3. The chassis is a Deluxe MF432
    4. The selected gpu is going to be paired with an Intel Core i5 2300 processor, 4Gb Twinmos DDR3 1333 ram, MSI PH67-C43 ATX motherboard.

The target resolution will be an 18.5" 720p monitor or a 20" monitor at 1600x900

    The choices are:

    1. ECS GTX 560, TK 15500, completely reference
    2. EVGA GTX 560, SGD 255 or TK 16320, reference design, from Singapore
    3. Sapphire HD 6870, USD 175 as of now.
    4. If you recommend anything else!

Please mention the pros & cons of your chosen gpu! I have gone through forum thread after forum thread, but I want BG's opinion before making the final decision.

All sorts of comments and advice are welcome! Help me decide! So let the discussion flow!

I aint no pro in giving out advices but there's no meaning in buying an ECS product from overseas, the eVGA one looks like a better choice to me, but make sure about the warranty, not gonna reckon ATI as I know you're fed up with their drivers just as much as I am.

What's the warranty like for eVGA? I believe they don't provide life time warranty support for their products in Malaysia like they do in the states? And buying from Bangladesh would be the best Idea but try to buy a better brand (e.g. Asus, GigaByte) if you can afford it, no problem with ECS though, but if you can afford it, why not go for something that's more likely to serve you longer?

If the eVGA warranty in Malaysia has nothing more to offer than what the ECS is already offering (2 years warranty I believe) then, the purchasing the eVGA card will not be a very wise decision as shipping a card abroad for warranty claims is a bit of a hassle.

that is the catch here. the EVGA will cost me around 16K. the ECS will cost around 15.5K.
Can get the EVGA via a family friend who often goes to Singapore, so, if any issues occur, claiming warranty will be relatively easier compared to a card bought from USA.

how is ECS as a brand? the ECS p45 mobo seemed to be pretty popular in BG. also the ECS 560 is all reference, would it be too much of a risk?

The warranty periods varies from region to region, make sure what the warranty is like in Singapore, and eVGA GTX 560 would be the smarter choice if claiming warranty is not an issue, ECS is a good brand that does deliver bang for the buck, but is not known to be in the high standards which is maintained by other brands out there, namely MSI, Asus, Gigabyte and etc. Staying away from reference designs would be a good idea, if you're going to overclock it.

From oversees if you have no warranty claim problem then defiantly go for EVGA GTX 560.Even if you can't claim warranty then there is a very small chance that the card may go down. As EVGA is a well known brand plus EVGA GTX 560 gives lifetime limited warranty.

@pcgamer is using EVGA GTX 560.He can give you an idea about it's customer experience .

And about ECS products.Their products are good too. Trust me. You can also take ECS GTX 560 but EVGA GTX 560 would be wiser decision (considering the fact you can claim warranty & even if you can't hopefully there wont be a single problem).

So IMO go for EVGA GTX 560 .And bring it befroe BF 3 comes out .

ok first of all both the gtx560 models are refrence. So they dont differ in physical or in components.Next is as ecs have a distributor here in bd, so no need to buy it from singapur if price diffrence isn't sky high. Then as evga isn't gona give u any warrenty and the card is refrence which means identical to ecs then avoid evga. The price diffrence in gtx560 and hd6870 is about 25$ ~ 2000 bdt. But the extra price gives gtx560 only 3or 4 frams. So i think hd 6870 will better. And also if u buy from bd then u will get ucc support. So in my opinion hd 6870 is better.

He's certain that he'll get warranty on the eVGA product, but not sure about the length of the warranty period, eVGA provides long period of warranty outside our country (as eVGA is not available in our country at all) and as for 6870, he and I both are pretty much fed up of AMD catalyst drivers, so he's willing to switch to the green side for a change of taste.. I agree that the reference cards, regardless of vendors, performs the same but if eVGA provides a longer period of warranty, then it's a good enough reason to be a better buy than ECS, taking into account that claiming the warranty from overseas will not be a problem, and again ECS is a good brand but if you can afford it, why not go for something better, in this case going for the better manufacturer?

pretty much sums up my views! thanks!

    @Raa

somehow EVGA makes me a lot more comfortable than ECS! regarding AMD, frankly I'm a little tired of having to play games a month after they release, for getting good performance with better drivers. I want to skip that wait if possible.

    thanks for your opinion btw!

agree. But claiming warrenty from abroad will only take 1-2 mooonths. If emroz can wait that much, than i will say go for evga.

ECS is a good brand, no doubt about it, but not everyone is comfortable with it, if I were him, I'd have bought the ECS and would've hit the buffet table with the money I saved but there's something called personal satisfaction, which I'm sure something everyone has in common, and it's what's driving him to choose eVGA over ECS, and I tend to agree with it, since claiming the warranty isn't a headache and of course the fact that he can afford to choose a more renowned manufacturer.
