of course u will get more fps if u use a 5670 ddr5 version. its a double of ddr3. normally u can increase fps by lowering ur graphics settings. like Vsync off, AA off. Graphics settings lower.

and also lowering the detail level will increase fps darastically.

What is ur monitor resulation? And at which resulation u play games?

umm nothing weird here, FPS= Frames Per Second, simple googling would even answer that! But what he wants to know is how to increase his FPS in games, & that is not just about the word FPS!

Things that would greatly help me with his question are his system specs, name of the games, what OS, what resolution, etc!

pes 11/black ops/hot persuet can be maxed out easily......i played crysis 2 very high(with 2XMSAA) and got 40+ fps at 1366X768 dunno about dirt.....whats your resolution @Choyon

i don't know what u ment by the term 'generally'....most of the dx9/10 titles are playable on 5670 ddr5 at higher settings...its not designed for dx11 so no need to bring dx11 here....u should've seen that he clearly mentioned his specific games....
and about 60 fps lol...pes11/black ops/nfs HP was running at around 60 fps on my pc.......anyway and i've hardly seen anyone lowering down gfx details if he gets 40+ fps in game coz 40 fps is very playable to most of the people.....

@Choyon - you've a good system there, theoretically you should be able to play all the latest games out there with decent frames at 1280x1024, 1440x900 or so!
Make sure you have the latest drivers from AMD & you are good to go!

Oh & you might wanna switch to Win7 x64, drivers are stable here...& it's generally snappier than XP with all the updates- this way your 4GB would be utilized properly!

My system is very poor. E4600 (2.4ghz and 2mb cache), g31 mobo, 3gm ram (ddr2 800), sapphire 5670 ddr3 and 17inch crt.
Now using xp service pack 3 and getting little slow prfrmnce while playing gta4. Nfs hot pr suit runs well bt graphics stucks during the car crush.
Should I go for the vista/7?
Gpu driver is not updated yet.

vista/7 may not give you a real boost....update driver & of course latest patches....

no ur pc is not poor at all.Try installing win7 freashly it will give ur pc a boost.And u bad boy u know that latest drivers are nice why dont u update them after win7 64bit install. About stucking in hot pursuit its ur cpu whats lagging try removeing some background tasks. yes ur Q9400 is far better than many i3 models.But in some instance u may run out of raw power as ur procesossor has only 2.66ghz speed.It will be great if u can overclock it to 3.2 or 3ghz. Its max reported 3.4 with out voltage uping with decent after market cooler.So i assume that u can up it upto 3 with ur stock cooler.And dont even think to max out crysis2 in ur graphics card. The mighty asus mars 2 with two gtx 580 core and 3gb memory cant maxout this game on resulation above 2560x1920.But u can max it at 1024x768. Or get 30+ frams at 1240 x1024. Which is enough for some.
