is that different from sim lock? anyways, i have a iphone 4s sim locked and using it with the aid of x-sim 419 chip on top of my regular sim [gevey unlocked i think]. to factory unlock your phone, it will most probably take 2.5k at motalib plaza, hatripool. i checked for my one. my phone carrier is swiss telia. and that x-sim costs around 600 taka. but you can't update to ios later than 6.1.3 cause then USSD codes don't work. for USSD [for checking balance] codes to work, they charge you an extra 1k as they have to jailbreak you phone and then perform some manual change in some files of the iphone [video available on youtube]. so that's everything i know about this issue...

You can Unlock your phone easily using various online services and it can be done pretty easily but you have to pay for it. The most well known site for unlocking your phone is UnlockRiver. All you do is go to their site, select which carrier your phone is locked to (means from which network carrier of which country your phone can only work and has been bought from), then select which company your phone is from, then select the model. Enter your IMEI (can be found in the settings of your phone) and email. They will then tell you the money needed and you will have to pay through Credit card or Paypal. They will later email you the code and you need to enter the code in your phone by adding a new (Bangladeshi) SIM and then your phone will unlock. There are also YouTube videos on how to do this which will make the procedures seem easier. Unlocking iPhones cost about $70 or Tk 5425.63 . That might sound expensive but this is the only easy and reliable method I know.

The other is Gevey unlock about which @zunaid has already said. I don't know much about Gevey though.

Yes, I live in Bangladesh, dhaka. Since I can't pay online, I opted for the local method of unlocking iPhones. They check their computer(the screen was facing away from me so I can't tell which site they visited) and according to the foreign mobile carrier (like AT&T or Verizon etc) ur iPhone is locked to, they quote a price to unlock ur phone. The phone becomes a complete factory unlock phone.

If it's Verizon, then it will be unlocked by default. I used mine in BD without any unlocks.

If the shopkeeper (who is unlocking a phone for a customer) is using the method I've said about then yes, but of course the customer pays the shopkeeper. After

But If you mean the shopkeepers of phone stores who bring phones to Bangladesh from abroad then they bring the Factory Unlocked ones at full price which do not require any Unlocking, and is brought directly from the manufacturer and not a Network carrier. These phones can be used anywhere with any SIM in the world.
