Default Dota Vs Dota 2 : Future of Dota

As Valve released Dota 2 there is new question arised among the gamers that what will be the future of Dota.. Is Dota 2 going to take place of Dota or it ll be a failed project like Hon or LoL.

As per Icefrog Dota 2 is the future, Although he mentioned that he will continue Dota as long as gamers want. But I dont think he will do that for long period. As his concentration will be on Dota 2 from now on rather than Dota. Another thing is by launching Dota 2 valve and Icefrog come to business, I mean they are about to make profit as it wont be free. Where Dota is just a custom map of Warcraft 3. As far as I know its like charity for Icefrog. ( Correct me, If I am wrong). In this capitalist world money is the main motivator. And he already pointed that he will be work on Dota 2 more by saying that Dota 2 is the future of Dota.
And those who are still saying that Dota 2 will be failed project like Hon or LoL they are forgetting another fact, that is.. The map size of dota already riched to 7.82 MB in map 6.72f. Where in Warcraft 3 custom map larger than 8 Mb dnt work. And I dont think Blizzard will release any special patch for Warcraft 3 just for a single custom map game. Cz Blizzard got game like WoW which unlimited source of income as well as Starcraft 2 or Uncomming Diablo.

There is another question what will be reaction about Dota 2 among Bangladeshi players. Now in a country like Bangladesh where online payment system is hard and people isnt used to with those thing as we dont even got paypal or other system here, moreover where people arent used to buy genuine version of products its kinda hard to imagine that huge number of people will buy a game like dota 2 to play with friends. I dnt want to comment about private server system or cracked copy. So if dota 2 replace dota, still it wont gonna happen here.. If happens it wont be in near future for sure.
This are just my personal opinion. I am not saying that Dota 2 will replace Dota atleast from heart of a gamer. If it happens it will be caused by the game play of it. Not by the comment of Icefrog that dota 2 is the future. But In my view its time to say Dota bb.

Another thing is that some people wondering that why the faction name is Dire and Raiders and heroes arent actually look alike like Dota. Like they dnt have Elf or Orcs here.. Windrunner is a human instead of HighElf same about beastmaster or drow ranger. As Dota 2 is seperate game from Warcraft 3 they have to maintain the uniqueness thats why they dnt have those cool high elf i guess /cry

(I refer the real dota wc3 custom map using the word dota)

Failed project bolte actually jeta mean kora hoe seta hoitese Hon r LoL create kora hoisilo to challenge dota. To take the market share of Dota more exactly. And they were unable to do so. Still WCG te dota'e khela hoe Hon or LoL na. BD player der opinion nia kichu boli nai. But as Hon Dota Lol sob gular genre similar its natural to presume that those r about to take market place. Noone make a game for charity. R Dota r popularity r tulonae Hon or LoL is nothng.
Dota ruled and other games failed to bring it to 2nd or 3rd place. Same bola jae WoW er bepare in case of MMO.

LoL is not a failed project. Its not supposed to be an exact copy of DotA, and being that doesn't make it 'fail'. LoL is balanced and fun in its own way, using its own mechanics. Yes, DotA gave birth to LoL, but it is a pretty different game on its own.
    .

    ---------- Post added at 21:49 ---------- Previous post was at 21:26 ----------

Well since this topic came up, let me do a little more explaining.

    DotA
I am a WarCraft III (classic) player by origin. But did play a lot of DotA back in my day. It was something about the 'team game' feel which I liked, something 1v1 WC3 matches did not have. I was mostly a casual DotA player, played every now and then with friends, just for fun.

    HoN
As the ages passed, the restrictions of the old WarCraft III engine caught up to DotA, and it is around this time that HoN was announced. I did play HoN during the beta, when it was an exact copy of DotA (with different hero/item names but same mechanics/stats), and I found the gameplay pretty much the same, but with better graphics, which was definitely a plus. But as time passed, HoN started adding custom champions and items, and it pretty much screwed the balance for me. Also, HoN was aimed at the competitive gaming crowd, which just isn't me.

    LoL

Now after that, I found LoL. And at that time people were really bitching on LoL, saying that its not like DotA, its is imba, bad graphics, etc. I still gave it a try, and I was pretty surprised to find that that playing it was really fun! I mean, it was like a fast-paced almost casual version of DotA. It wasn't fully aimed at a competitive gamer crowd, but had pro-gaming potential, so I could find my place here. Also the champions and items are nicely balanced, the artstyle suits me, and the gameplay is still based on DotA, but very different (in a good way!). It also has a completely different skill curve from DotA.

    The Future

Now the way I see it is that DotA 2 will take the place of DotA. Which means DotA will most probably be removed from most tournaments and replaced with DotA 2.
HoN will die, because it was supposed to be a copy of DotA, but now since there the original sequel to DotA (DotA 2) is out, it will eventually die out.
LoL will still be played. Mainly because of its different gameplay and skill curve, and it has really shined on the eSports scene recently. Its still a new game, and it may even take its place in international tournaments alongside DotA 2.

But who knows what will really happen.

ya the new champs and new items screwed HoN. LoL is different.. + 1.

and about BD gamers not buying dota 2.. well if a casual dota lover like me can buy it.. then the crazy crowed who even cared to buy garena gold membership.. why wont they buy it? i dont get it... well they may not buy it if its priced over 3k or something in BDT..

Its just [EB]. Not Elite B[a]stard or anything like that.

About DOTA2 on Bangladesh: don't worry about it.

About HoN: fail game is fail.

About LoL: DOTA2 will kill off LoL. Don't believe me? let's talk again on 2012 Q2.

About DOTA1: Ice will keep working on D1 until people wants him to i.e., until a significant number of people keeps playing D1.
Currently there are 25million D1 players. By 2012 Q2, this will be below ~1million. If that happens, Ice can stop working on D1. And it WILL happen.
Again, don't believe me? let's talk again on 2012 Q1
The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power.

I think CvP is gonna pay for us to play DotA 2

On a serious note, I think he may take care of the payment/s, etc.

DotA is not some retarded MOBA game. It is an action-RTS.

DOTA2 will kill off all dota clones. that's it.

DotA in itself is a very, very hard game to master. On the other hand, LoL is very easy. There are people who play for 2 weeks and start owning. You need to play each champion for a long time to unlock new ones, and you become good with almost every champion that way. DotA's market share is in Asia and South America mostly, and bits of EU and US. LoL is dominating in EU and US. Since LoL is an easy to play game, much easier than DotA, noobs and casual players will still keep playing it. The DotA players will move on to DotA2.

Also what you need to understand is that, nothing will get influenced by what the BD players can or cannot do. Classic DotA will still have a huge market share in BD since a lot of people won't buy the game. Such will be the case in the Philippines where 98% of the youth play DotA. And they are a country ransacked by piracy as well and hence will not buy the game. SOme people will of course, but how many we'll have to see. Places like SG, MY, Brazil, US, EU and Russia, people need to actually pay to buy Warcraft III. And then they get DotA running. SO they are paying for a game anyway. They won't have trouble paying for DotA2 since they are used to paying for games.

As for the BD people, no one will play LoL, or only a few people may. I would say more people will play DotA2 because the new comers won't like DotA over DotA 2. They'll likely pay the amount by some means and get a "newer and prettier" game. Plus, I'd say around half the DotA players now will switch to DotA2. Add those up and we'll see more DotA2 players.

    That's what I think.

Read my post again, most of the newbs are not interested in taking the time to learn the game, they just want to start pawning from the get go. LoL is the perfect single unit micro based game for that. You aren't allowed to even deny lol. They just won't switch over. People in the EU and US who are comfortable with LoL won't just magically switch over. DotA2 will need advertisement and special features to attract them.

I just posted this in PD

People like you will be extremely pleased with dota2's matchmaking.

    There
is an interview of GabeN in youtube. in that, he says states a fact about
    dota:
    - a newbie player only enjoys the game with 9 other newbie player
    -
a hardcore player only enjoys the game with 9 other hardcore player

    the
point is: unless everyone in the game is similarly skilled as you, it
    wont go smoothly.
And there will be coaching system and built-in tutorials. DOTA2 will be much more noob friendly than LoL. trust me

I wont comment about other points (now is not the time).
The abuse of greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power.

    I agree with PD.

LoL is indeed much easier than DotA. I can play it without worrying about denying
So noobs like me will still play LoL. But I am definitely giving DotA 2 a try.
