Red face Suggestion for a good mobo

Want to buy a mobo. Budget is 10k max. Need some suggestions. Currently I'm using a Gigabyte B75M-D3H mobo. My CPU is a I5-3470 3.2GHz.

if you want to move to a 4th gen processor you will have to buy another mobo so keep using it and change the cpu and mobo together later.

Non-k overclocking. I run my 3470 at 4.0Ghz (3.8Ghz on all cores) with my Z77.

what are the differences between h77 and z77? apart from the pricing.

If you want to upgrade to a 4th Gen Haswell CPU later then you will require a new motherboard with LGA 1150 socket. YOur 3rd Gen CPU is not compatible with LGA1150 as it is LGA1155, and a 4th Gen CPU is not compatible with another 3rd Gen MoBo as the CPU is 1150 not 1155. So you should keep your current MoBo, or upgrade your CPU and MoBo together.

If you plan on waiting then you might even get your hands on Intels new Skylake chips with new LGA 1151 MoBos. BTW Broadwell Desktop CPU supports LGA1150 so you can run 5th gen Broadwell on 4th gen LGA1150 MoBo.

Also the difference between H77 and Z77 MoBo are :

    1. Z77 can Overclock CPU, GPU and RAM. H77 is limited to CPU and GPU.

    2. H77 comes with one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot as the Main PCIe. Z77 can have
    1 PCIe 3.0 16 or 2 PCIe 3.0 8 or 1 PCIe 3.0 8 + 2 PCIe 3.0 4 .

An overclocked 3470 is better than non-overclocked haswell 4590.

    End of story.

Why the hell would you want to move to 4th generation when you are going to get 6th generation in 2 months?
Don't buy any mobos right now. If you are sure you want an upgrade, then upgrade to skylake is out in SEP. There is no point in spending money on Haswell now.

not really, i am running an overclocked non k processor too. But still buying a new motherboard just for ocing a non-k is really not that logical.

Non-K overclocking by increasing multiplier is safe. Non-K overclocking by increasing Base Clock is unsafe.
