Bangla Gamer has been having so many Leagues in this year, BG has had a FIFA league, and having another FIFA league and DotA league. As Counter Strike is one of the most played FPSs in the world and Bnagladesh, BG wanted to have a CS league, but couldn't go through with the plans thanks to F1's announcement of the WCG BD, having CS 1.6. After that annocement, the BGCSL was changed to CS 1.6. Many teams dropped out, and most didn't register. So here are some facts about CS.
[Note: the following is hand written by me, from my knowledge, information may be wrong feel free to correct me, and spelling mistakes may occur]
Counter Strike was made from Half Life as a mod back in 99, when a group of college students were bored, they wanted something faster than Half Life. CS was made from the Half Life engine.
Then in 2004 came Half Life with the Source Engine, it took 10 years to develop this engine and still today it is a wonder how they made it at that time, and Counter Strike Source was released. This was completely different from the old CS, only similaraties was the Bunny Hop trick, but was made harder.
WCG has had CS since 2000. From 2000 till 2003 Counter Strike was played (versions 1.0-1.5).
In 2004, the WCG swicthed to the new CS:CZ (Condition Zero), which was mainly made for consoles.
In 2005, the WCG switched to the newly released CS:S (Source), which was made using the new Half Life 2 engine, named Source eneine.
In 2006, however the WCG switched to the newer version of CS, which was CS 1.6, this was an update to the CS 1.5, which was played in the earlier years.
And since then it has been CS 1.6 around th world, in every competition.
Counter Strike 1.6 has always been the main event at every gaming tournament around the world, till recently when CEVO, CGS and CPL started switching to Counter Strike Source. CS 1.6 is still played at these tournaments, but most players have switched to CS:S, thus making CS:S the main event now. Alothough most have switched the WCG still plays CS 1.6.
Counter Strike has 2 different formats, the classic format of MR15 (Max Rounds), which had $800 as the starting money, and 1:45 mins as the roundtime, and each half was of 15 rounds.
How ever after CGS, CEVO and CPL swicthed to Counter Strike Source, they addapted to another rule, the MR9, which has $16,000 as the starting money and 1:20 mins as the roundtime, and 9 rounds per half.
This new move made CS:S more exicting as it gives more money, it's more fast paced and it has less rounds making it more fun for viewers.
So in conclusion, CS 1.6 is played using the MR15 format, where as CS:S is played on the MR9 format.
So the final question is, which one do you want in the BGCSL? CS 1.6 with MR15, CS:S with MR15 or CS:S with MR9? State reasons why?
