    Default Need a new PC

    Hey guys,

some of you already know that I'll be flying to the US soon for my studies. Well that date has been confirmed to be the 7th August Not a lot of time left so I'm finishing up on stuff left to do. PC configurations is one. I have gathered a lot of info myself and have an outline of what I'm going to get, but I'd like the opinions from fresh eyes to make sure that I'm getting the best for my money (no this does not imply a full AMD system )

I have no fixed budget, but I won't buy anything that I don't see the value in. So no quad 590s, and no 5000USD setup. I'll add another GPU when I see fit but till then only one GPU is needed (no not a 580 either ). I prefer it to be in the 1500USD range, but will go much higher if the component is worthwhile.

PC's purpose will be for work and gaming, and I need everything to be fast and efficient. SSD is mandatory, I have my eyes set on the Crucial M4 as its extremely stable and gives, not the best, but still very good performance. PC needs to be silent as I will have 2 roommates and I don't wish to bother. They're both studious and I don't want anything of mine to bother them.

Processor- No brand preference, but AMD's BD is slated for release mid-september, and I'm not sure if I can hold on till then.
Motherboard- I severely lack knowledge of this, but as far as I can tell, Z68 seems to be the best for my intended setup. Any brand is ok
Monitor LED and Full HD, 21-23" preferred. Multiple HDMI will be greatly appreciated as after a couple of months I'll also be adding consoles to my setup.
PSU capable of supporting at least 2 mid-range GPUs
1 SSD (not more than 128GB; primary use as OS drive and frequently used applications, games secondary)
1 Storage HDD but nothing as stupidly slow as WD Caviar Green.
Casing with good airflow and cable management, no intention of watercooling...yet

You guys can link to any site you want, I intend to buy them all online. Give priority to value, performance, efficiency (including noise) and warranty.

    @Dee @error @Mazhar @dipanzan @Mohiuddin @Rakin the Devil

    Thanks in advance for!

    Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor[315$ in newegg]

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

    CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model
    Are these okay?

    You're gonna buy GPUs too?

    Then GTX 560Ti X 2

If you don't wanna get a z68,you can check ASUS ROG Maximus IV Zene

BTW,OCK is kinda noisy AFAIK, check some reviews,I might be wrong.

    PSU - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire / CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 (CMPSU-750HX) 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire

Sure why not. I'm open to any config as long as it'll be worth it.

And thanks for the config Frank and Speed, I'll check those out myself now.

    i7 2600k
    P8P67 Evo/Deluxe
    Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600
    Crucial M4
    GTX580
    Silverstone RV02/ HAF X
    HX850

An ROG board would be overkill, so better go with P67 or the Z68 that Frank suggested.

As for CPU cooler, go for either Corsair Hydro Series or Antec Kuhler Series.

@aayman_farzand For SLI setup, I have one suggestion for GPU. Buy EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2GB (02G-P3-1568-KR) from newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130683.The 2 GB memory will be very much useful when you do SLI and give you best bang for the buck.

    Here's my suggestion

    Intel Core i7-2600K
    - $315
    ASUS P8Z68-V PRO - $210
    CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 - $70
    CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 750W - $145
    EVGA SuperClocked GTX 570 - $340
ASUS VH238H Black 23" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/ Speakers - $190
    Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB 7200 RPM - $60
    SILVERSTONE Precision Series PS06B-W - $100
    Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB - $219

Total comes up around $1650, so yes, imo, the extra $150 is really worth it.

And don't get 2x 560 Ti's now, don't even get a 580, get a 570, and if you need, you can just add another 570 later on.

CPU coolers not mandatory now. I'll pick one up later if I want to OC more, but till then all OC will be with stock coolers + casing fans.

Processor can't be a 2600K. I just don't see any circumstances where the extra money will be worthwhile. How about a 2500K + a good cooler? The saved money can contribute to that.

Oh and clear something up for me please. Z68 e jei SSD caching, does it need a dedicated SSD for cache or will it make use of the installed OS SSD?

Nah, you don't change processors every now and then, so getting the 2600k will be worth it.
