    Default Payday: The Heist

Payday: The Heist is a cooperative first-person perspective action video game, scheduled for release on PC, and PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network. On 3 June 2011 to the days leading up to the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony unveiled that it would publish the game, with the newly-formed Overkill Software studio serving as the developer.

Six High-Intensity Heists to Pull: Whether you’re blowing the roof off a building to extract a safe via helicopter or emptying the vault at the First World Bank, these action packed heists will have players checking their six in the living room.

Interactive Co-op Gameplay: Whether AI or live, your crew of four must operate as one to bring home the bacon. Sharing extra ammo and medic kits, helping regen wounded partners, distributing tasks like guarding key positions, taking civilian hostages or cracking through various security measures. It’s one for all and all for one.

Endless Replayability: Dynamic, adaptive environments combined with non-scripted enemy behavior, shifting entry points, FBI agents repelling down on ropes through the skylights, SWAT teams crashing through the windows or special units crawling through the ventilation shafts makes play-through of every heist a unique fight.

Massive Character Progression Tree: Choose a specialty – assault, sharpshooter or support – players gain weapons and equipment that fit their preferred form of violence. Unlock trip mines, silenced pistols, machine guns and much, much more.

Shout Out Button: Players need to be vocal and shout commands and directions to the co-op crew, as well as hostages and the police if they want to survive to spend their cut of the take.

Hostage Trading: Hostages can be a lifeline. If anyone in the crew is taken into custody, trade hostages to get crew members back and increase the odds of completing your objectives.

PlayStation® or PC: For keyboard and mouse marksman, as well as handheld controller snipers, PAYDAY is the uber FPS for a high intensity shooter fix.

More DLC in the form of additional heists, weapons and equipment means PAYDAY—a digitally distributed AAA quality title for less than half the price of a retail game—is total OVERKILL.

I read about this in the copy of GameInformer I got in the mail today and thought it was an interesting concept for a video game that I'll most likely be picking up when it comes out.

Payday: The Heist going down Oct. 4
SOE dates trio of PSN titles, with Overkill's shooter joined by Rochard on September 27, Sideway: New York on October 11.

The arrival of Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition on the PlayStation Network next week marks the start of Sony's four-game stretch collectively known as PSN Play. The payoff for picking up all four PSN Play titles is a free copy of Payday: The Heist, and today Sony Online Entertainment dated the release of that title along with a handful of other games coming to the online storefront.

Overkill Software's Payday: The Heist is now slated to arrive on the PSN and PC on October 4. A squad-based first-person shooter, Payday: The Heist lets gamers don their patriotic insane clown masks and engage in bank robberies, jail breaks, and carjackings.

The game is priced at $20 for those who don't pick it up as part of the PSN Play promotion, with preorders commencing September 20. SOE expects to launch downloadable content for the game later this year.

Recoil Games' Rochard will hit PSN a week before Payday: The Heist on September 27. Priced at $10, the game falls in the side-scrolling action platformer genre and sees the titular astro-mining hero using the tools of his trade to fend off space pirates. Gravity manipulation is a primary gameplay mechanic, as players alter the pull of matter to solve environmental puzzles.

Lastly, SOE will publish Playbrains and Fuel Entertainment's Sideway: New York for the PSN on October 11. The perspective-bending platformer sees gamers navigating a 3D world as the 2D graffiti artist Nox. The dual-dimension hero navigates the world by slipping along New York City's flat surfaces as part of his quest to get the upper hand on his archnemesis and rescue his friends. The game will cost $10.

SOE also touted its track record on PSN. According to the Sony label, SOE-published titles have been downloaded 9.7 million times to date.

    Payday: The Heist Delayed
    Robbing banks takes time.

Payday: The Heist, a multiplayer downloadable from Overkill Software, has been delayed. Payday was originally scheduled to launch on the U.S. PlayStation Network tomorrow but an official press release has announced that the launch has been moved to later this month.

According to the press release, "this delay is a move to ensure players and fans of [the publisher's] promise and vision to produce high-caliber games that deliver the best quality game experience." No alternative release date has been provided for the PSN version or the Steam version.

    Watch the rescue mission here

Sony Online Entertainment has released a new trailer for PAYDAY: The Heist, Overkill Software's downloadable co-op shooter being developed for PS3 and PC.

The trailer shows a scenario in which players must mount an ambush on a prison transport van to rescue criminals, and battle the Police at the same time.

PAYDAY was first revealed at E3 earlier this year and recieved some serious loving from PC Gamer's Tim Edwards, who said "It's simply stolen the show for me".
