Default Best headphones for under $100

title says it all...all of us who are into gaming , high volume music and sometimes explicit content viewing know how important a good headphone is as a part of pc. so i was wondering what headphone brings u good memory and makes u happy everytime u use it...no matter how cheap/local it is.in fact i am much eager to know about locally available products as 99% of us dont get hold of say a newegg product. also any information u have regarding where to find good headphones is much appreciated..i'm going to bring a headphone from abroad..budget is within 100 usd...contenders are audio - technica ath ad700, grado sr80 , sennheiser hd 555. my cup of tea in music is rock, hard rock, alt. rock , metal with almost no softy music.if anyone have ever used any of these products...can shed a light on it...it'll be much appreciated.

p.s. I've had my fair share of cosonic and other el cheapo chinese headphones..among these two products i've used stand apart...one is koniycoi kt - 2100 mv and other is senic st 2688..both of these have good bass response (among peers) and less distortion in high volume and are pretty loud...the former s better though...

Sennheiser HD595 is what I've been after for a while, a relative owns one and it's rather nice. A little out of your budget though...

this & this! Not sure about the 55DJ, but the HPs mentioned above are definitely one of the best when it comes to music/games/movies! I mean the clarity, sound response, the quality is above any gaming HPs & their gimmick USB Surround Sounds!

Audio-Technica AD-700: Big, comfy and a nice soundstage. Decent bass, mids and highs. More or less neutral, goes well with any track but metal might sound slightly veiled due to the neutrality. Open
Audio-Technica M-50: Dark sounding good extension in bass, punchy due to slight emphasis in upper bass. Decent mids and highs. Great for trance, hip-hop and bassy stuff, decent enough for metal and rock, but might need EQ'ing for that. Closed-back
Grado SR-80: Screaming highs and emphasis on mid-highs and highs along with punchy upper bass but not much extension (=bass cant go deep enough). V-shaped frequency response curve, coloured. Great for rock, metal and not much else. Open
Alessandro MS1: Based on the SR-80 but tuned by Alessandro for a somewhat flatter frequency response. Still great for rock and metal, but not as much depending on your tastes. Open
SRH-750DJ: Extremely good bass extension without sounding dark, bass not as punchy as M-50 but more refined and goes deeper. Not a big soundstage but clarity especially at higher frequencies and instrument separation are also excellent. Trademark Shure mids: brilliant. Great for trance, hip-hop and other bassy tracks, EQ'ing helps it a lot for rock, metal. Best in this group if you can snag one for under $100 but thats unlikely. Closed back.
SRH-440: Bass extension not as good as SRH-750DJ but not bad provided you have a decent source, similarly brilliant mids as 750DJ, great highs as well. More or less neutral frequency response curve. Good for pretty much anything but rock and metal might need EQ'ing otherwise it might sound a bit veiled due to its neutrality. Closed back.
Ultrasone HFI-580: Bassy, extension not as good as 750DJ but punchier. Cant match the 750DJ for mids but comparable highs. Price slightly higher than $100 but after the 750DJ this is the one to get.
AKG K518/K81: More or less neutral, portable and decent enough bass. Does not have the trademark AKG highs but doesnt emphasize any frequencies. Great for most tracks but as with neutral'ish headphones, might need EQ for metal and the likes. Cheap. Closed back.
Sony XB-700: Bass extension and punch even better than the 750DJ, but rolled off high-end frequencies and comparatively weak mids. Not great for rock/metal.

    Not recommended:
Senn HD555: Doesnt compare well to the above in any regard. Slightly veiled and doesnt excel in any category, but more or less does the task at everything just not brilliantly. Not recommended.
G35: Great for gaming, but doesnt compare to the others when it comes to music. Not recommended.

The thing is, it depends on what you want. If you want screaming highs, mids and dont care that the sound is coloured, go for the SR-80 or MS-1. If you want all round performance and dont mind tweaking the EQ, get the 750DJ, HFI-580, SRH440 or M-50 in this order. If you want a open headphone with a great soundstage and good all around sound, go for the AD-700. I wouldnt recommend the others. I might have missed a couple of headphones though.

Thanks, glad to help.. Ive just been lucky to try out/buy a few good headphones in the market, thats all. I havent tried every one of the headphones I listed, but most of them.

Im renaming the thread because its a bit misleading.

I can't recall the exact name or address but there is a shop in Banani sell Shure HPs. Audio Technia HPs are available at Boshundhora City and several music instrumental shops at science lab mor. One of them asked 24k for a Senneheiser HP and I was like,"Khaise way beyond my reach".

If you're literally into high end HPs, bringing something from abroad would be the wiser thing. Not only you will get your desired HP but will also cost less than here.

really really not recommended! USB HPs= fail Get a pair of Audio Technica/Sennheisser/Shure & pair them with a good sound card, & it'll be way more awesome than the average gaming HPs!
