    Default 5670 or GTX 440

    Hi all...

I am new in BG n looking for some suggestions for buying a new gpu. At first I decided to buy with lowest budget. But .... Just after reading your posts here, I have managed to change my budget. Opinions of BG people were really helpful for me to understand about the game related hardwares. Now my choices are gigabyte/saphre 5670 ddr3(6300bdt) and gigabyte GTX 440(7000bdt).

5670 ddr5 version was in the list but seems like it is no longer available in the market. If you know any shop selling ddr5 version of 5670(gigabyt or sapphr)... Plz let me know.

5670 ddr3 has 775-790mhz gpu and 4000 memory clock. On the other hand, GTX 440 has 830 mhz gpu and 1800 memory clock. Its very confusing for a novice like me. The games I would like to play are Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood, Call of Duty : Black Oops etc. I'm eagerly waiting for the Hitman : Absolution.

My monitor is samsung Crt 17inch and using C2d 2.4ghz processor, intel g31mobo, 2gb+1gb 800mhz ram and a generic psu. It should be noted that buying a good PSU is nt possible now:-(.

So, Please suggest me a card between the two cards fits best for my set up. (mentioning another gpu around 7k will be highly appreciated)

    Regards.....

    Welcome to the Forums

As for your GPU, the 5670 is better than the GTX440, both would run flawlessly on a generic PSU! So I would get the 5670 over the 440! Wait for some 5670 owners to respond!

first of all there are nothing called GTX440...
the DDR5 version of 5670 has 4000mhz effective memory clock while the ddr3 version has just 1600 mhz effective....5670 ddr5 is much faster than gt 440 ddr5...but 5670 ddr3 and gt 440 ddr5's performence should be similar...

Thnx dipanzan and @nonymous bro..I found gigabyte 5670 1gb ddr3 and gigabyte GTX 440 1gb ddr3 in the Ryans product list.http://www.ryanscomputers.com/model....string=&serch=According to their given specification .. 5670 1gb ddr3 has 4000mhz memory clock. But now its time to believe that their reviews are not exactly made.I found 830mhz gpu clock in gt 440. As per I understood, GPU clock has a greater influence on gaming. 5670 ddr5 is a good one but did not find anywhere. To get a 2nd hand is so tough for me.Please evaluate my points.

    Let me clear a thing...The Gigabyte GT 440 at Ryans is actually 512 MB(turbocache to 1 GB)...http://bd.gigabyte.com/products/prod...px?pid=3747#sp
You can get it ECS Elitegroup GT 440 1 GB DDR5...http://www.superior-bd.com/product_detail.php?id=22

You can find 5670 DDR5 at Star Solution at ECS computer city(Azhar),not sure though..
Most people think time is like a river, that flows swift and sure in one direction. But I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you, they are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I really am, and why I say this. Come, and I will tell you a tale like none you have ever heard.

HD 5670 should be better then GT 440. I was looking for Gigabyte DDR5 version but wasn't available at ECS at that moment so got my Sapphire 5670 DDR3 from Star solution at 6.2k 2 weeks ago. Its a small card(installation was very easy) and runs pretty cool around ~40 c idle and ~55 c gaming.

i used the sapphire 5670 ddr3 version and played games 1600*900 res. all most all the games i played through this card were at a good playable frame rate. since u have a 17 inch crt, i think the 5670 ddr3 will b enough to handle your mentioned games. IN CRYSIS 2 i got avg 25-30 fps. for lost planet 2 it was 25-35 as far as i can remember. it will b a great deal for u in this low budget. go for it.

If you are low on a budget den 5670 ddr3 is for you but DDR5 version would be the best.

I bought 5670 ddr3 recently as couldn't find any ddr5 available in the market. It's not that bad. Can play the games, though many of BG members told me to wait and buy ddr5. My problem was also budget and happy with it.

bro.... you can't determine the performence deference by comparing the specifications of an amd card with a nvidia...according to those specs the gt440 would be faster than a 5670 ddr5...but in real life its opposite...

He was comparing with the 5670 DDR3 version, That is not a very good card. My friend bought the 5670 DDR3 version and later switch to 5670 DDR5 version due to bad performance.
