Default First Nokia Windows Phone 7 “Sea Ray” Handset Revealed

Many rumors, speculations and requests were made in regards to the news that Nokia teamed up with Microsoft, as well as further news suggesting they were working together to bring the first Windows Phone 7-based smartphone. However, following an employee meeting that Stephen Elop had, this previously masked potential competitor to the iPhone and Android-based lineup was given a face,as well as a name. The Sea Ray looks almost identical to the recently announced N9, apart from a couple of small differences. The biggest giveaway is that there is a dedicated camera button on the side, which the N9 doesn’t have. The big difference however, is that the Sea Ray is running WP7 Mango, not Meego or Symbian. Elop said at the meeting that the phone is “super confidential” and that he didn’t want it “getting out into the blogosphere”.

Earlier this week, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop gathered his employees for the unveiling of a “super confidential” new product. Before revealing it, he asked everyone to “put away their cameras” – but apparently some employees kept them out anyway, and now pictures and video of the unveiling are in the wild. Is this a leak? Or is it – judging from the professional-quality video that came out of the event – an “unofficial official” leak? Either way, we’ve got a glimpse at “Sea Ray,” Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 handset.

The codenamed “Sea Ray” device will feature an 8 MP Carl Zeiss lens camera, as well as a Gorilla Glass protective panel. Since it was seemingly leaked, rather than officially released, no other technical specifications were disclosed, although Nokia’s CEO stated that the line of Nokia Windows Phone will come prefixed by a W, for Windows.

However, during the presentation, while it was clearly stated that the prototype is still receiving software tweaks and implementations, the “Sea Ray” seemed to have integrated Mango OS very well, complete with a strong and stable Office Mobile edition as well as a fast IE 9 for web browsing. Moreover, it was also revealed that upon its launch, the smartphone will be shipped with a large amount of Nokia apps, including Nokia Drive & Maps, a software specifically designed to allow existing Nokia customers to transfer contact details as well as other personal adjustments to the new Nokia Windows Phone.

The Finnish company has yet to release any official word on the “Sea Ray”, however it is pretty clear that we might get more information, as well as perhaps technical specifications, at the October 26 event, Nokia World 2011. Still, this leak will certainly draw many people back to Nokia’s side, as many consumers were distraught with the company’s decision to release the N9 with Meego, a dying operating system with very little developer support. This comes pretty quick after N9’s release and it seems pretty awkward, being given the short distance between these two smartphones. And it is hard to believe that this is a “leak”, as the video taken from Elop’s briefing seems quite clear. Maybe it’s actually a slick marketing plan for Nokia to get between Apple’s and Android’s lead in the smartphone market.

nokiar prob holo ora wrong OS develop kore like symbian, they should have gone for android instead of meego. Still it will be a failure if they dont develop meego for 1-2 yrs and its playground app market, because without app its useless, its like u have the bat & ball but nowhere to play
another thing they always brag about the camera, but again its a failed 8mp without 1080p video capturing

    Guess what??? scan it??:

    Good enough GAMING RIG
