    why would you ever need to pump 1.55v to a sandybridge processor until you're trying to go far above 5 ghz?!?

    the extreme 4 (p67/z68) is one of the cheapest, quality motherboards to support x8/x8 crossfire mode. but asrock is relatively less-known than gigabyte. many would pick gigabyte for their peace of mind.

    @sumanpathak

    i hope your experience of using 7 or more motherboards comes to the aid of this forum.

    moving on, the ud4 is a great choice no doubt. for low cost options with x8/x8 crosssifre support you can take a look at msi p67 g45 or asrock p67/Z68 extreme 4. if low cost options are not needed then please ignore this post.

    1st of all, thanks both of you for ur opinions. Here are the things caught my eyes :

    I guess 1.55v is insane for a 24/7 running pc even on water cooling nor i want to go above 4.8ghz.

    The 2nd mobo u mentioned (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128507) is actually Z68XP-UD4 and its not a b3 mobo. There's the thing i'm confused about - only P67 chipset mobos has to be revised as B3 (from my knowing) not da Z68 ones. Then why the 1st one you mentioned has B3 and the 2nd one doesn't?

    I m a person who like to get the best within the possible lowest budget and i've no intention of crossfiring but a onboard gfx can be handy. Those three gigabyte mobos i've mentioned here are selling as combos at 30-35$ discount rate. Besides, there's one more mobo which caught my is asrock p67 Extreme6. There's no combo discount but its already selling at 30$ discount with free shipping (others has 8$ shipping fee). This mobo has many features to be liked and it has 16+2 power phase deign. But i read somewhere that >16+ phase offers a lesser advantage.....is that true?

    Actually, here's too many options on mobo and i'm pretty confused at some points. Hope to hear something from you guys.
    Thank you.

    Actually, here's too many options on mobo and i'm pretty confused at some points. Hope to hear something from you guys.
    Thank you.
    with ther release of sandy bridge 1.55V is not so rare....infact many people run it on air...so dont be scared...this chips basically reach their limit in AIR itself....you dont have to watercool it....
    and whatever you choose plz choose from Z68 offerings...
    coming to B3 options...both of them are B3 stepping motherboard..its a matter of branding....
    if you need more info then PM me....i will b glad to help you....
    cheers!

    Id steer clear from 1.55V on air. There have been many who have experienced degradation at above 1.5V and 1.42V seems to be the safe limit for 24/7 unless you go water/single stage cascade

    SB will usually gain around 300 - 400mhz when going from 1.42 to 1.55V (depending on the chip of course). You wont really notice the difference in speed, but isnt it better to ensure that whatever speed you set it at it will stay there for years to come?
