    Default PC upgrade help!!!

while waiting for LT+ 2.0..my attention turned to my pc..at the moment:
    core 2 duo e7200 2.53 ghz
    2gb ddr2 ram
    sapphire HD 5670 1 gb ddr5
branded PSU 430watt (forgot the brand name...but this was bought seperately as the casing PSU was dying)
    resoloution i game at: 1366*768
    games i play: all
recently i got witcher 2 for pc..after applying the patch...the fps i got wasnt impressive..it was lagging at certain places..after putting on low spec..the fps improved and it was playable..but the purpose of my pc is to game at medium settings in a low-profile (less electricity)..now..i think its time to upgrade soon..so..which part of my pc should be upgraded?? RAM?? should i get another 2gb?? should i get a new MOBO and build an AMD based machine?? i want the cheapest possible upgrade..and the price/perfomance ratio matters..maybe gettin a new MOBO will allow me to get ddr3 ram?..a quad processor? help plz...i heard that the low cost amd processor perform better than low cost intel processors..is it true?? guys..plz post the price of the upgrades too..i live in sylhet..so..dhakae eshe niye jaite hobe..

Consider switching to AMD? Not only it'll cost you less but the products they've to offer are quite unbeatable if you consider the price range.. For 4.5K you'll find the MSI 760 chip motherboard which has PCI E 2.0 and DDR3, while on the other hand all intel's got to offer at that price range is G41 which doesn't offer you much room for upgrades as the LGA 775 platform is slowly dying, and the biggest upgrades for you will be is a GPU and a PSU that can back the GPU up, something like a GTX 550Ti can come in handy, and if you sell your current rig, you'll only be needing to add like 10~15K more with it to go for a total upgrade.

Here's a good look at what you might expect to get if you sell your rig:

    Core 2 Duo E7200= 5.5K
    Intel DG31PR= 2K
    2GB DDR 2= 1.5K
    Radeon 5670 1GB= 5K
    430W PSU= 1.5K~2Kish depending on warranty

And add 12~15K more and you'll have a perfect gaming rig for a year or two that'll run pretty much everything at 1366X768 maxed out to medium details depending on the game, but unless you give us a budget it's not possible to set a target.

Damn t9, but in a way it makes sense not only our rigs hog electricity but also a lot of time out of our lives too, so in a sense, it's pretty much like a pig.

Your 5670 is the biggest drawback, I hope you realise it, for the 5670 the upgrade is not even necessary.

Did you see witcher 2 benchmark?are you getting low fps in every game or just witcher 2???...there is no point of upgrading processor actually unless you upgrade your GPU...your curent cpu is not that bad actually....add another 2gb ram and overclock your cpu a bit...a 5670 should run every game atleast medium at 1366X768........

No, your RAM is not the reason behind the low fps.

And if you want to keep your 5670, please do, but do change the Mobo and CPU. And change the 5670 later on.

    Get these :/

    Athlon II X4 640 - 8,500tk
    MSI 760GM P33 Mobo - 4,500tk
    4GB DDR3 RAM - 3,400tk

    Total of around 16,500tk.

If you're happy with the 5670, then no problem, use it till you find it very hard to play games at good settings on

Sell your CPU, Mobo and RAM, you should get something around this as ll-r_o_m_u_l_u_s-ll bhaiya said,

    Core 2 Duo E7200= 5,500tk
    Intel DG31PR= 2,000tk
    2GB DDR 2= 1,500tk

    Should be around ~9,000tk

Add another 7,000tk and you can get yourself the AMD config

    @banglabro

ektu different ekta suggestion dei, most won't approve of it, but tao boli.

recently koekta p35 motherboard bikri hoyeche bg-te, aro ashte pare shamne. i'd say grab a second hand p35 mobo, clock your cpu to around 3.5ghz (most e7200's should reach there) and invest in a 6850. you'll still be bottlenecked, but still much better performance levels...

all this considering you already have a reliable psu

    p35..........around 3500 (2000 from existing mobo)=1500
    6850........around 16000 (5000 from 5670 gddr5)=11000
so for around 12500 you'll be getting much better performance levels

and lastly, the resale value of an e7200+p35 combo will also be higher!
