Default ASUS reveals world's first glasses-free 3D laptop

Like "a giant Nintendo 3DS for playing WoW"

ASUS has revealed the world's first glasses-free gaming laptop, the Republic of Gamers G53SX.

The laptop uses "unique technology" that allows it to convert existing 2D visuals into glasses-free 3D, ASUS says, and according to our chums at PC gamer, it's basically "a giant Nintendo 3DS for playing WoW".

mpressively, the machine's also promising "advanced research" that allows it to display in 'mixed mode', with one window displaying in 2D and another in 3D, both on-screen at the same time. Mental.

Under the hood the laptop's set to sport an Intel Core i7 CPU, Z68 motherboard and GeForce 560M graphics chip. 'Regular' 3D gaming roughly halves framerates over 2D gaming on the same system, it's said.

So far ASUS is keeping its 3D tech behind closed doors, but it's promised a demonstration video will be released eventually. There's no word on pricing or availability yet.
