Default The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings!!! Randomly crashes to the desktop!

I recently got Witcher 2, but after playing for sometime the game crashes and returns to the desktop! I have an Ati HD6950, and the game runs very smooth with all settings on ultra vsync on
(ubersampling off). I get around average 60-45fps. But after playing the game, it crashes to the desktop!
I checked the internet and found a thing called the "3gb switch trick". ( I have 4 gigs of ram). They say that the only fix is by reducing or switching to 3gb! But I'm afraid that my pc may be affected because of this!(slower performance)

Have any one been affected by this? Will changing to a 64-bit OS work?
