Default Opinion on buying iPhone 2G

i'm looking to buy an iPhone 2g (2nd hand obviously)
and i'm noob at this gadget
basically, i'd like to use the device for reading PDFs, using some apps i don't know about just heard about, showing off, etc.
i wanted some user opinion on whether is it actually worth buying?
i won't be using internet on the phone i guess so, will 2G and 3G matter?
will i be able to install latest iOS versions on the device?
and more importantly what factors should i be looking for in the device when i'm buying it? it's important cause it'll be 2nd hand and i need to check it properly before buying it
are technicians in BD capable of repairing an iPhone in case sth happens?
there are many gadget freaks here in BG (complimenting)
    so help me out plz

I'm no iPhone expert, but try to get the 3G, cuz afaik the 3G can install the newer iOSes...but I'm not sure about it. Maybe iPhone owners can help regarding this. About apps both iPhone & Androids will make you spoilt of choices, that I can guarantee! Be it games, or productivity apps

Oh you can also play gba & ps1 games & some of the HD titles on Android, I mostly use my X10 to play pokemons & Twisted Metal & I guess the iPhone has more choices when it comes to gaming!

when looking for a device, go for sth with a big screen, since you'll be reading PDFs. An AMOLED screen is even better but it would cost more than a regular LCD device. If it's an Android device, look for a higher rated CPU atleast a 800MHz, which would ensure that you can run the newer OSes smoothly. Lastly all these devices nowadays have WiFi, so don't have to worry about that, about 3G, only those mobile operators if they'll ever come to BD -.-

Agreed, but AMOLED and other functions er jonno to above 20k range er Androids lagbe :/

    nd, nummer bhaiya,

I assume you have a budget of 10k, saw your ad in clickbd And personally, i would never go for an iPhone 2G, a 3G is a must. Check out some ads, there's an iPhone 3G 8GB on clickbd just for 12k.

well iphone 2g and 3g kina loss. at minimum u shud buy 3gs. its bcoz ager 2 model er cpu slower. So use korle pain lagbe, esp if u have used 3gs and 4 models. Taile mental comparison automatic hobe and aro slow lagbe.

But jodi akdom normal use korar iccha thaake, then buy 2g. Yeah bd te 3g nai so 3G model kine amneo laav nai. But 3g model ta dekhe aktu better plus lighter. Sound quality better.

Iphone fix kora jai. Eastern plazai thik korte pare.

I think u can also try Android at same price points. Better hobe than iPhone 2G.

so do u think iOS is better than Android OS?
and can u give some examples of those apps u were talking about?
btw, how do u identify whether an iPhone is jail broken or not?

No no don't buy 2G or 3G, they have lost support. Ami nije 3G use kori, and its very slow. I had to install some other stuff just to speed it up and even then its not as fast as I want it to be.

To know if its jailbroken, just check whether an app named Cydia is installed. Oita thakleo jailbroken iphone oita.

problem is most android device(around my price range) are not multi-touch
what attracts me about iPhones and Macbooks are there multi touch gestures
like pinch for zoom and stuff and the capacitive touch screen
basically it'll be for normal app exploration and some game playing

what do u mean by 'support' actually?
meaning no one in BD can repair them or sth like that?
when u ppl say slow, what do u actually mean?
i'm way backdated when it comes to telecom devices
    could u plz elaborate?

    nd, nummer bhaiya,

I assume you have a budget of 10k, saw your ad in clickbd And personally, i would never go for an iPhone 2G, a 3G is a must. Check out some ads, there's an iPhone 3G 8GB on clickbd just for 12k.

so do u think iOS is better than Android OS?
and can u give some examples of those apps u were talking about?
btw, how do u identify whether an iPhone is jail broken or not?
About iOS to Android- it's like ATi to nV - for me it would be Android, since I own one right now & I love trying out new ROMs, tweaks which you can do in Androids

For apps- it would mainly be games like Angry Birds, NFS Shift HD, Assasin's Creed HD, Spiderman HD *HD titles are like 100-150MB each!

jodi iphone kinte jao... since its second hand... look for the home button... see if its as sturdy as it shud be... i went to buy a 2nd hand 3gs for my bro and found several ones with overused and slightly tilted home buttons... so stay careful with those...

What will be better for you depends upon what you plan to do with it... I have a 3GS... and before I bought it.. I saw how slow the 3G became after the new OS upgrade... so i bought the 3GS.... thing is.. before I bought it I had thought I could play 2nd Gen mobile games like Infinity Blade and so on...
Reality is... jam e boisha thakle I only play angry birds and Moto X Mayham. Both of these games are available in Android as well...
And... I watch a lot of videos in it too...
so it depends... if u want to watch videos... then i guess a downgraded 2G would be good enough... if you can spend more.. then u can get a 3GS..
think abt how u'll use it before u buy whichever you buy..

thanx that puts things in better perspective
even a Nokia phones that come with Flash lights are better than what i'm using ATM and for a long time
so i guess iPhone 2G won't be that bad for an upgrade
and like i said i'm happy if i can use the multi-touch gestures and some cool apps
and i hope it's almost same for 3g or 3gs

well.. put it this way, if you buy the 2G, it will do what generally all phones are supposed to do. Yes, it will do that multi touch thingy
the differences would come in front when u'll run 'some' games not all... 2G wont have any OS versions above 3.1.x i believe.. but that wont make its interface slow either.. like mane 3G owners upgraded to OS version 4 and suffered slow interfaces.

just that you know, 3G and 3GS looks almost identical. Difference huge though, the 3GS comes with a magnetometer and the same GPU the iPhone 4 has. So in OS version 4 the 3GS runs like butter although the 3G suffers. But this is not anything that'd make the devices less from functioning. If you can get a 3G stay at OS 3.1.3 and ur good.

Dokan e iktu ghuran maro.. ar ghataghati koro.. u'll find out a lot..
