    Default amazon to bd!?

I saw a thread sometime ago about bringing a toy through e-bay to bd,some weird toy too, while all of us dreamed it was a cool car die-cast..anyway..the thing is that I saw few good books up in amazon and got all worked up,then remembered that I live in BD.What I am wondering is can I bring them here to BD for real?I have bit of online cash left..If possible I would like to bring those books and few die-cast cars for my collection from amazon.Amazon says that it is possible to bring books here to BD,not sure other stuff is allowed. But the info is really marky..Any one got any details? And if possible please mention the extra price I have to pay for living in BD too..!

I once ordered a book from amazon.com. It arrived at my home perfectly on 16th working day.

And actually, it is cheaper to ship books to BD than buying books from USA. Yes, I tried both and shipping to BD from amazon.com is cheaper.

You won't have to pay any extra charge for living in BD except the shipping charge. I gave $17 shipping charge for the book that I bought. It was a heavy book (~2.5kg) though.
But you do have to pay extra charge for living in USA. I just asked one of my aunt, who is coming this month from USA, to bring a book for me.

Total price she had to pay is: Book's Price + 15$ STUPID ING USA TAX + 3$ Shipping
Total price I would've paid if I shipped directly to BD: Book's Price + 17$ Shipping

So? Shipping to BD is cheaper and also now she has to carry a 3kg book in her luggage for me.

    * Note: Books that require special handling because they are extremely heavy (for example, multi-volume sets) cannot be shipped outside the U.S. If this is the case, it will be noted on the product detail page.

This has been answered a lot of times. And yes, I used a credit card from HSBC Hong Kong to purchase my book.

U need international credit card that is tagged with RFCD account or ERQ account. Both are dollar deposit accounts and they cannot be opened normally. For opening RFCD account, u need to visit foreign countries and return to Bangladesh with excess cash dollars. Then u can open RFCD account to deposit that dollars. ERQ account is issued against Export dollars and hence u need to be an exporter.

Normal international credit cards issued from Bangladesh wont work as they are issued against travel quota. Travel quota is the amount of dollar u can take outside Bangladesh for visit purpose. U cannot spend travel quota on internet and which is why internet transactions on these credit cards are disabled.

Easiest way is to use credit card of a foreign relative.

Then comes the customs part. Depending on item, duty is applicable. If there is duty, customs will hold your shipment in their authority till u pay the duties.

Once it arrives, u will receive notification from DHL or UPS or Fedex that ur shipment has arrived and waiting for customs clearance. Then u can go personally to pay duties or hire a clearing and forwarding agent (C&F agent) to clear the goods on ur behalf. Sometimes they can bribe the customs to avoid total tax payment. In dat case, they will take some money but it is also risky business.

Among these, only International ($) Card will work.

@xCross bhaiya, i have one question, there are these online payment solution firms in bd nowadays, google "paypalbd" and you'll know what i mean, i once made a payment through them, a verio web hosting bill to be precise, and i just had to pay 80tk as a service charge to them, pretty reasonable, now, if i buy an electronic good, a video card actually, from amazon or any other website, can i ship it via DHL?

Or is it better to tell someone there to buy it for me and then ship it via DHL?

Bangladesh Customs does not take any tax for books.

Or is it better to tell someone there to buy it for me and then ship it via DHL?
Amazon does not take any form of paypal. You're going to need a credit card.

That said, Verio? As in NTT Verio? Good to see that some people here actually use quality webhosts here ;]
