    Default Bulldozer/Zambezi/FX WEI scores.

Apparently there is a video on youtube showing that a Fx-4110 (the lowest end FX processor from AMD) clocked at 3.4 GHz yeilds a 7.9 score in win 7 across the board.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUWckPBv6Fs

Now if this is true bulldozer's gonna do some thrashing this summer ^^. Still uncertain about game performance though, AMD has yet to unveil it and this isnt a good sign.

    Whoa!!
If the Quad can hit 7.9,that would be awesome.
    Prolly SB 2600K scored 7.8.
    Not sure though.

That score means nothing, my proc scores 7.4 but I'm sure there'll be a vast difference in performance when compared to these.

    Yeah I get 7.6.
I think AMD is planning for a silent bomb on Intel, because remember what happened when they were boasting about their true "native" quad core, they got their arse kicked, so this time I think they'd prefer to keep silent.
It could be true the other way around, cause remember when Intel brought out core 2 they were at the top of their lungs releasing benchmarks before the products hit the market.

    ---------- Post added at 05:50 ---------- Previous post was at 04:51 ----------

By the way guys, its actually not a true quad core, its a Dual core. Well the thing is AMD's design this time around is very peculiar. @Mazhar can explain this better but Bulldozer only has 8 Integer cores and not 8 FPU's unlike a true 8 core, its like 2 integers in one module using common resources so this is the way AMD's gonna do SMT, rather than using one core to balance out between two threads they are going to give one core 2 integer units, hence the OS showing 8 /6/ 4 cores tbh they are actually 4/3/2 cores :\.

    Default Re: Bulldozer/Zambezi/FX WEI scores.

I'll show a few diagrams to explain it better

Basically, a module consists of 2 'cores'. A single core as we know it consists of a FP unit + Integer unit. A bulldozer module consists of 2 separate integer units (piplelines), however only one shared FP unit for the whole module to be divided by the two 'cores'. So technically, a module is slightly less than 2 cores since it has one less FP unit. However, Phenom II could do 128bit FP + Integer in one core. A Bulldozer module can either do 2x Integer + 256bit or 2x128bit FP. So it equals Phenom II's definition of 'cores'. However, Sandy bridge can do 256bit FP as well in one core, so for 256bit FP instructions SB can equal one whole module, however the integer units are double in a module.

One important thing to note is that in the last two diagrams, Phenom II appears to have more AGU and ALU units in each integer pipeline. Thats incorrect, because per clock, PII can either process 3ALU OR 3 AGU, while Bulldozer can do 2 ALU + 2 AGU. Also, Bulldozer has a wider front end, branch fusion, power gating/true turbo and more aggressive prefetching which is on par with SB.

The main reason for going the module route is because it saves die space. Bulldozer allows 2 integer pipelines plus a fat 256bit FP unit which allows a single Bulldozer module to be over 90% of the performance of 2 separate cores, while saving more around 40% die space. Single threaded applications can also be accelerated by allowing a single integer pipeline and FP to utilise the 2MB of L2 cache of a module, plus very aggressive turbo (over 500mhz).

All this allow 4 modules to be crammed in desktop Bulldozer processors, which is roughly equal 8 cores along with 8MB L2 + 8MB L3 (16MB) total cache. Server versions (Interlagos) have 8 modules, 16 cores, 16MB L2, 8MB L3 (24MB) total cache. Speeds range from 3.0ghz to 3.6ghz (plus turbo), expect mass availability in early July.

edit: WEI is rubbish and there are question marks over that video

Alright there are more leaked performance figures, cant quite confirm the authentication of the information but look at the 3d mark cpu scores in comparison to core i7 2600K at 5.3 GHZ
