Default Xbox 360 dashboard update, Avatar Kinect this month, might contain new security measures

Here we go guys, just want we didn't want, seems to be coming..

According to a supposed leak from within Microsoft, an Xbox 360 system update will be rolled out later this month, introducing support for a new Microsoft disc format.

Previous reports suggest the new disc format will offer a 14-15 percent boost to the Xbox 360's DVD format by increasing size, as well as introducing new piracy prevention measures.

According to Joystiq's source - who claims to be a Microsoft tech support employee - the update will also include Avatar Kinect, a free virtual chat room, as well as better PayPal support for international markets.

The leaked internal memo indicates the update will be distributed in groups between May 19 and 30, with Avatar Kinect arriving on May 26.

So guys, don't update so quickly, wait for a new firmware to come specially if you play online..for now we can just hope this news is FAKE!

I hope its not a new firmware from c4eva rather its something quite like the activate iso disc or a burning software that bypasses the new disc format protection.

The news is NOT a fake. Microsoft already said a new dash update is coming in May. Bringing support for Avatar Kinect AND the new disk format is supposed to have same AP checks so I guess C4eva will pwn those.

well i hope they release a new firmware which allows ap2.5 enabled games to run with out patching them. cause as the rumours suggest that this update will enable ap2.5 in all xbox 360 games..correct me if i am wrong..

ya i hope c4eva will pwn them badly, just like i pwn @.... btw by fake i meant that the dashboard update doesn't release in May. btw I think you were planning to get online, so bro just wait for a bit and then join online after a new firmware releases, unless you have the patient to patch all your games. , btw i there will be another new piracy measure.

XGD3 is basically a simple Dual Layer DVD.

It has just increased more ap 2.5 checks on the upcoming firmware and the new disc format will add more protection to the offing. We cant judge the anti piracy measures solely on the games based on the new disc format cuz the firmware also plays a part too. In other words we need a new lt+ firmware for the new dash and probably some patches or specialized software just to cope with games with the new xbox 360 format. XGDC is Microsoft's New format of disc it has an additional 1GB of data written to the disc traditionally Xbox 360 Games occupy 5-6.5 GB of a Dual layer disc this new type of disc uses 7.8GB. Maybe the new format games will start to release later in the year but not the dashboard.

    http://team-xecuter.com/new-dash-upd...-unlock-update

For many weeks a dedicated team has been hard at work in preparation for the release of the new dash which started to roll out today (2.0.13146).
Although we have been publicly quiet in recent weeks, work has been ferocious with a large group of talented, and very well known scene individuals, busting their asses to make sure that the work of the 360 scene keeps on rolling.

So now that the rollout has started, the team can actually start to implement much of the work into releases for public consumption.
Here are some things of note so you have a clue of what’s coming:

    • After the update the drive fw is also updated with a new stock fw, rendering the drive unable to play backups (for now).
    • When the drives are flashed back again with LT fw the previous AP2.5 patched titles are no longer booting (expected and will be updated with new XBC and 0800)
    • It seems that the first update has only been sent to Liteon DG-16D2S and Liteon DG-16D4S drives (Unconfirmed)
    • The key location on phat models is now in a different area, so a new JF will be released to accommodate this change which was already anticipated in advance.
    • There has been EXTENSIVE progress with all the new AP2.5 challenges. New 0800 BENQ fw is almost ready.
    • There is a new XBC (Xbox Backup Creator) that has been designed alongside the new 0800 ripping fw – you’ll love it
    • There will be new LT fw’s for all of the new versions that have been released.
    • XGD3 progress is being made and there will be an update on this soon.
    • We have received unverified reports that after the update to a 9504 slim drive the write protect was enabled like the 0225 drives (Unconfirmed)
    • All the slim key read and slim write routines have changed also (again fully anticipated). Easily fixed with new JF

We will also confirm that we have a solution to all unlock all 0225 drives so you can write the firmware. This has been 100% verified and working and we are producing the addons as we speak and will have them available as soon as possible. We will release 2 versions, a kit for pro modders to offer as a service and also a DIY mod type device that users can install themselves. There is a LOT going on so we are working as fast as possible on all projects.

So in the next few days/weeks you can expect new Lt firmwares for 0225 and others, a new Jungle Flasher, a new 0800 fw with new Ap2.5 support, a new Xbox Backup Creator and an addon to unlock 0225 and 0401 Liteon DG-14DS drives (which will also work on 9504 drives too if they become locked out)

If you have any corrections or other input please feel free to post in this forum thread: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65152
