Default Xbox 720 in line for shock E3 reveal - report

EA said to be in possession of an early build of the new hardware

Microsoft is to announce a successor to the Xbox 360 at E3 next month, according to "a senior, trusted, well-placed" source.

The tipster, speaking to respected games industry publication Develop, said the new hardware was sent to EA last month - and that the publisher is getting to grips with the tech right now.

It's said to be a "very early build with no casing - it is in fact being stored inside a PC shell".

"Quite often when new consoles come around they're packaged into a PC shell, but actually what's inside is an entirely new console," the source said.

"Why let Nintendo steal the thunder in June [At E3]? It doesn't want to lose momentum. That's why I think Microsoft is rushing to make an announcement at E3."

Develop has been led to believe that the new Xbox will feature enhanced support for Kinect and will launch by the end of 2012.

The site's source added: "Kinect will keep the 360 going for a couple of years, but Microsoft knows that if it slows down now it will face trouble."

In March, Microsoft said it was looking for a 'hardware verification engineer', a 'VLSI graphics architect' and a 'VLSI performance architect' for work on what sounded very much like a next-gen console.

    http://www.gamespot.com/news/6312481...op%3Btitle%3B1

The official story: Though Microsoft had not commented as of press time, EA vice president of corporate communications Jeff Brown had a few choice words about the report. "This story is a total fabrication--[it's] 100 percent not true," he told GameSpot.

Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus, according to EA. However, in March, job listings surfaced that leave little doubt that Microsoft has begun work on its next-generation console.

Update 3: Electronic Arts' director of corporate communications Jeff Brown said in a statement to IGN, "This story is a total fabrication – 100 percent not true."

Update 2: A trusted development source tells IGN, "To the best of my knowledge no one here knows what [the new Xbox] will be. Only that it will probably drop in 2013."

Update 1: An unnamed source tells Eurogamer an E3 2011 reveal for Microsoft's next Xbox is "highly unlikely," putting Develop's E3 rumor to rest for now.

Original Story: Citing an unnamed source, UK-based video game industry magazine Develop is reporting that Microsoft has provided Electronic Arts with development hardware that will become the next Xbox as early as 2012.

According to the report, the hardware is housed in a PC shell, a common practice for early console development kits. Develop's source, described as a "senior, trusted, well-placed" person who works at neither EA nor Microsoft, told the magazine an E3 2011 reveal is likely.

We've reached out to Microsoft and EA for comment.

    Really ? lol.
I doubt it'd need anything over usb2. Im currently using kinect and I see no lag or watsoever. :\
Razer hydra support will be much appreciated, its a must have for the new x360 as IMO the hydra is the most accurate motion sensing device although may not be as fun as kinect is with some games, but it sure is some amazing tech.

Kinect should be a better option, cost me something about 10K I suppose, since my whole xbox360 package was purchased from china.

nah i didnt buy it, a cousin of mine did it...i played kinect adventure and dance central and it was good, it has few to zero lag...and it isn't expensive, i'd say it's absolutely reasonably priced...i've tested the voice controls and they work great too....so my advice to you will be to get kinect...esp with forza 4 around the corner!

New stuff includes Milo being scared by a deer, playing basketball with the player, finding a paintball gun and challenging the player, exploring a forest and throwing a hissy fit.
